Senator Dan Duffy to step down early to lead Prevent Child Abuse America
Duffy is confident winner of GOP primary, Dan McConchie, will be appointed to finish out remaining months on his term.

State Sen. Dan Duffy will step down next month to lead a national nonprofit fighting to prevent the abuse and neglect of our nation’s children.
Duffy, R-Lake Barrington, announced he would resign his 26th Illinois Senate District seat effective April 3rd to take the position as president and CEO of Prevent Child Abuse America, a Chicago-based nonprofit with chapters in all 50 states, most of which do home visitations to ensure the healthy development of children.
Its Healthy Families America home visiting program alone helps more than 100,000 families a year.
Duffy said in a news release that he was honored to take the agency’s helm because “there is no better cause to fight for than this.” Duffy, first elected to the state Senate in 2008, chose to limit himself to two terms and not run for a third.
“The America Dream starts with a happy, healthy childhood“, Duffy said. “This position gives me the opportunity to combine my passion for business, politics and public service.

As for Duffy’s successor, the voters in the district selected Dan McConchie in a three-way Republican primary race. There currently is no Democratic challenger running in the November election.
Duffy fully endorsed McConchie in the Republican primary.

Was it only coincidence that Deal Maker Dan’s new gig was announced a day after McChoncie elected?
Like the Democrat who ran against Governor George Ryan, twice, I will be voting for the Democrat if deal maker Dan chooses to run for Illinois Secretary of State or any future public office.
Duffy represents the worst Illinois Republican party has to offer.
This deal between Duffy and McConchie was sniffed out well before the election.
Now what we’re stuck with a third rate candidate for State Senator, makes sense to vote Democratic.
