Yesterday, inspired by Diane Rado’s Sunday Chicago Tribune article on school debt, Woodstock School District 200 taxpayer Susan Handelsman wrote an article yesterday about her district’s heave debt load.
It the highest in McHenry County.
Coming right behind is Johnsburg, which just passed a pretty big bond issue.
Today, let’s look at what the Tribune discovered about the debt load of other McHenry County School Districts:
The numbers are principal only.
The interest numbers were not reported.
Good lord.
That ought to get some people running for school boards.
Every taxpayer needs to have a look at that.
I can’t even wrap my mind around those numbers for some of these small districts
