Jack Franks on Reapportionment: “Do as I say, not as I did.”

The Daily Herald has a story today about State Rep. Jack Franks wanting fairer reapportionment.

Jack Franks apparently doesn't want the reapportionment advantage that he exercised after the 2000 and 2010 censuses.

Jack Franks apparently doesn’t want the reapportionment advantage that he exercised after the 2000 and 2010 censuses.

This is too rich in irony.

Or maybe it is hypocrisy.

The Democratic legislator who got McHenry resdent Pete Michling–the man who planned to run against him–remapped out of his State Rep. district in the 2002 reapportionment now wants to prohibit such behavior.

How did he do that?

He asked his boss, House Speaker Mike Madigan to draw the map so Michling was in Republican State Rep. Mark Beaubien’s district.

John O'Neill

Ten years later, Franks eliminated all of the Richmond and Spring Grove precincts in his district that voted for John O’Neill in 2010.

Or should I say that Mike Madigan did so at Jack Franks’ request?

Now that Franks has 18 years in the Legislative pension system–with 20 being needed for a maximum pension–he wants to take legislators out of the process.

How droll.

In the original version of this article, I misidentified Pete Michling as a former Mayor of McHenry.

  1. at least he’s doing SOMETHING besides trolling the internet with a hack blog.

    press credentials… psssh.

I wouldn’t give you credentials to wash my car.

  2. This is standard tricks for Jack as he really is just another Cook County no rules politician living in McHenry County.

Wake up people and dump him!

We need Steve Reick for representation of the 63rd district!

  3. Agreed, Farmer, it’s time to vote out Franks.

The people should be sick and tired of the antics of Franks and Madigan.

One more step to taking back McHenry County and the State of Illinois, means voting out Franks in November.

    Vote Steve Reick!

  4. Independent mapping is a folly to begin with.

How do you have a truly independent process?

    Monkeys with crayons?

  5. And this will help eliminate the Constitutional pension guarantee how?

  6. Take one look at how the congressional maps were drawn and tell me again that Franks had influence on how those maps were drawn.

  7. It was Steve Cuda … not the flounce Michling, who was Jacko’s opponent and McHenry Mayor. O’Neill …. that’s a ‘poor bird’ for you! Where is he now???? Valhalla, NY?
