House Passes McSweeney’s Constitutional Amendment To Eliminate the Lt. Governor’s Office
David McSweeney
According to the sponsor of the legislation, State Representative David McSweeney (R-Barrington Hills), eliminating the office will save taxpayers approximately $1.6 million each year.
“The House vote proved today that we can put our money where our mouth is when it comes to government efficiency and saving taxpayer dollars,” Rep McSweeney said. “We need to reduce expenses wherever possible.”
The legislation will next be considered in Senate where it must pass with the support of 3/5ths of the chamber.

That’s a start but really what about amending the state Constitution about balanced budgets and pension guarantee?
Put all three on the ballot, all three will pass.
No more Lt. Govenor? We’re finally removing this vestigial organ of state government?

He has done nothing in Springfield where is a budget where are pensions.

“RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that there shall be submitted to the electors of the State for adoption or rejection at the general election next occurring at least 6 months after the adoption of this resolution a proposition to amend Section 5 of Article XIII of the Illinois Constitution as follows:”
