Politico is reporting that two local State Senators–Pam Althoff and Karen McConnaughay–are among those negotiating a budget compromise budget, which will be for two years.

Contents of the proposal, according to Politico, include  ‘an income tax increase and the creation of a sales tax on services, as well as a version of workers compensation reform.”

Althoff and McConnaughay among Negotiating Legislators — 7 Comments

  1. Neither one gives a crap about the taxpayer.

Both believe in bigger (more expensive) government.

Where is the pension problem fix?

  2. How I agree I’m supposed to be ok with these 2 deciding to up tax more!!!

    ha!

what a joke…the fleecing of the Illinoian citizen…continues!

  3. I cannot speak for Mrs. Althoff , but I have worked with Mrs. McConnaughay when she was a Board Member, as well as when she was the Chairman of the Kane County Board.

She was neither pro government nor was she an advocate of increased taxes in any form, with the exception of the motor fuels tax to shore up infrastructure.

It is simple to launch characterizations around on a blog, but if you are going to say that she does not care about the taxpayers or that she is somehow in favor of additional taxes, it would be nice if the commenters could provide specific examples.

Name-calling is the lowest form of criticism, and this blog deserves a more reasoned approach.

Proposed policy solutions serve everyone better than unsubstantiated labels.

When a proposal is made, then we can intelligently debate the merits.

If in fact these two Legislators could somehow craft a compromise where our State could actually adopt a budget, I for one am in favor.

  4. So Agreed, when they run out every Employer and Employee of this State I wonder if they will turn on each other then when there are no more Union State workers left here… to pay for them, as they have run out so many now, and all that income gone, they have to start picking on small businesses…

just never stops with the greed!…

    How ABOUT STOP SPENDING!

does that ever occur to these people????

  5. Conservative Voter; your comment was not that either State Senator had done nothing to reduce your tax burden.

Instead, you opined that “neither one gives a crap about the taxpayer.”

Since I have personal knowledge that the statement in not true, I felt compelled to comment.

Thank you for linking the voting record.
