Johnsburg 6th Graders Forced to Listen to Spiritual Laws of Yoga

What do you think of a public grade school teacher forcing her sixth grade students to watch this video on chakra?

It was shown in a sixth grade Social Studies class taught by Mrs. Morse in the Johnsburg Junior High School.

The second chakra is “our creativity and sexual center. It is located above the pubic bone, below the navel, and is responsible for our creative expression. (See link above.)

The seventh chakra is “the chakra of enlightenment and spiritual connection to our higher selves, others, and ultimately, to the divine.”

I would image Christians might think otherwise and not want their tax dollars spent teaching their children otherwise.

Just trying to cleanse the students, it seems.

Johnsburg 6th Graders Forced to Listen to Spiritual Laws of Yoga — 38 Comments

  1. Are we supposed to be morally outraged?

    5th graders learn about sex.

I’m sure it’s nothing kids haven’t seen in the Internet or their phones already

  2. Kids should be made aware, overviews, of all types of things that go on in this world.

I wish the young would be taught more about civics, accounting, and budgeting at a earlier age.

  3. Wow!

    You people are really stupid!

This is absolutely AGAINST all Biblical teaching and very very dangerous.

This will bring satanic demons into your life and you people think it is a part of education.

Get your kids OUT of this system now!

(And you wonder why your lives are being challenged on every avenue – sheesh!)

  4. I agree with the Nob.

There are billions of people who believe this type of medicine.

You don’t have to agree with it, but it’s real enough to them.

Cindy – the medication – take it.

  5. Yet another covert attempt by the America hating Left to brainwash our children by expunging traditional Christian values and to replace those values with this Government approved and taught “spiritualism” BS.

There is an insidious war going on for the control of our children’s minds by Leftist educators in public schools.

Wake up America, before it’s too late.

  6. Kids watching a 22 minute YouTube video during class time is not an efficient use of class time.

Another of many examples of why we need school choice.

There are plenty of ways to teach kids, there has been a lot of innovation, there is all sorts of statistical information that districts and schools and teachers have about individual student performance.

With school choice, if the parent does not like what the school is teaching the kid, the parent could enroll the kid in a different school the following year.

Some parents and kids like 22 minute YouTube Chakra videos during class time.

    Some don’t.

Another controversial issue is organizations allowing gender identity to determine where one uses the bathroom, such as Chicago Public Schools and Target.

A commenter mentioned a week or two ago about how Genderbread was being introduced in a school.

Depending on the school district, school, department, and curriculum, teachers have a varying degree of latitude as to what is taught in the classroom on any certain day.

The teachers have a union to look out for teacher interests.

    It’s not a teacher – parent union.

The parents on the other hand are not organized, there is the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) or Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).

    Not a Parent Union.

The PTA or PTO will rarely side against teachers in any given issue, so that’s not an effective counter to the teacher union.

The biggest influence in most school board elections is whether the teacher union supports the candidate, so that’s not an effective counter to the teacher union.

The only employee of the school board is the Superintendent, so that’s not an effective counter to the teacher union.

The administration reports up to the Superintendent, so that’s not an effective counter to the teacher union.

There is nothing more political than a school district and teacher union, with school district policy guided by Federal and state law and local school district policy; and the teacher unions having as many or more elections themselves and elections in which they are involved than politicians.

And most school districts have no watchdog.

  7. Moderate must be a government troll or a just a “Useful Idiot”.

This is exactly the type of sleepwalking that is killing this country and the WORLD.

You can always tell the opposition when they deride you for having values.

    Shame, shame.

    Isaiah 5:13.

  8. Here is the blog post in which the parent commented on his child being given a Genderbread survey of sexual confusion in a class.

Educating the public about the transgender issue and allowing gender identity not actual sex to determine whether one is entitled to use the mens bath room or womens bath room, or boys restroom or girls restroom, has been a goal of this special interest group for years.

The group wants transgender students to have the ability to use whatever bathroom they want, mens or womens, irregardless how that affects non transgender students.

Thus only transgender rights are considered, not non-transgender rights.

    What is a right?

    Whatever the law says.

    Where to draw the line?

The line is drawn however the law is written.

Insurers that offer plans through would have to comply with the requirements in their plans off the health insurance exchange as well.

  9. Cindy, I don’t question your values, I’m simply pointing out that learning about how 1 billion people perceive health and wellness isn’t such a bad idea.

    Are you against Yoga too?

You know some yogis believe in chakras.

Does that mean if you are downward dogging that you are praising satan?

  10. Hey, “Moderate”, do we teach things just because a bunch of people believe in them do we teach facts? What is the point of education?

Religious associations aside, we shouldn’t be teaching pseudoscience bs in our public schools.

  11. Moderate? You are right.

There are possibly a billion people doing exactly what you said.

The problem here, is they are all going to HELL for doing that.

Unless…someone can enlighten them about the good news.

This is not a time to be quiet and let people fall by the wayside.

This is a time of spiritual warfare and people need to know how to be right with God.

If you actually love your neighbor you would be concerned and not indifferent as to their plight.

  12. I am not doing me.

If you have a problem with what I said, take it to God.

    His rules, not mine.

    Also, Joe is right.

Too bad the opposite of what he said is de rigueur in our schools.

  13. Why teach meditation when kids are being exposed to drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, absentee parents, divorced parents, bullying etc.

I would rather have children learn to be in the moment than act like heathens advocating wars, separateness, and hatred.

  14. I’d rather teach them how to read and do math; you’re not going to school to achieve spiritual enlightenment, man.

But I guess wanting a literate population and more STEM majors is just war-mongering corporate fat cat wiggly lip.

    Duly noted.

  15. This is a social studies class not Sunday school.

Discussing other religions and other beliefs is not indoctrination.

No one is going to hell for watching it.

I would rather have had a teacher read and understand and then teach the class rather than YouTube video.

We should have school choice and get rid of tenure.

Maybe more teaching and less movie watching

  16. I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians.

Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.

    Mahatma Gandhi

The most heinous and the most cruel crimes of which history has record have been committed under the cover of religion or equally noble motives.

    Mahatma Gandhi

I came to the conclusion long ago … that all religions were true and also that all had some ERROR in them, and whilst I hold by my own, I should hold others as dear as Hinduism. So we can only pray, if we are Hindus, not that a Christian should become a Hindu … But our innermost prayer should be a Hindu should be a better Hindu, a Muslim a better Muslim, a Christian a better Christian.

    Mahatma Gandhi

  17. Nob brings up a good point.

    Gandhi was a Hindu.

    He meditated.

    He probably did yoga too.

    Is he in hell Cindy?

  18. Nice, taking cues from a guy who has been discredited for claiming to have committed a terrorist attack

  19. Is Yoga a religion?

This was part of a world religion section of a social studies class.

Why waste half of a lecture on chakras and yoga?

I remember learning about religion in school and it was pretty brief “Here’s what Muslims believe, here’s what Hindus believe”

It was the central beliefs about religions.

I could explain the seven chakras in less time…

    Is meditating a religion?

Do we teach kids how to properly pray according to the Vatican in a 22 minute video?

Sorry, I don’t want people like Karma or Cindy in charge of education.

One sounds like a new age nut and one sounds like a theocrat.

  20. Moderate?

    That’s all you got?

    It’s called converted.

I think you are the one that just discredited yourself with your flim flam statement.

Apparently you are just a parrot of what you hear.

You are not interested in truth or education at all.

    And Joe?

Would you be surprised to learn that I actually taught school?

  21. Sorry Cindy, didn’t think I had to mount much an offense after you said Ghandi is in hell

  22. Didn’t say that.

    Reading comprehension problem?

You apparently also did not read any of the piece I posted for you to get an education on the subject, either.

I would further suggest that you don’t try to debate anyone on any of these issues.

    You are very ill-equipped.

When people don’t care to engage or find the truth on their own we become a society of sniveling children.

Thank you for proving this to all who have ears.

  23. I don’t read garbage, unsourced drivel from a blog that also claims Martin Luther King is the Anti-Christ – especially when directed to by a solipsistic, pond scum yokel.

  24. Cindy- I think you made a very serious theological error.

You are obviously a Christian and a believer in the trinity, Father, Son and Holy (Ghost or spirit). (Spirit if your Catholic and Ghost if Protestant).

Above your post suggested Christ (Jesus) was the creator.

That position is illogical and in conflict with well established Christian theology.

If Christ was born a product from God (light from light) as something that came into being about 2016 years ago he is not the creator.

Anno domini nostri lesu Christi (AD) meaning “in the year of our lord.”

It’s measured from the birth of Jesus Christ.

    Just sayin!

I don’t know why it’s not measured from conception.

Apparently, we can find 12/25 on the calendar easier than the date the Holy Spirit visited Mary (even though Catholics recognize immaculate conception as a date on the calander and the Catholic Church came up with the calander!)

so Nob if your paying attention God the Father is the creator and salvation comes from Christ. (Several other posts needed for that one aspect).

All other interpretations of the Devine are doomed and those who believe otherwise are to be condemned to Hell.

    Therefore Yoga is bad!

  25. Point of correction, you can be mislead by yoga and not go to hell if you are ignorant of the teachings of Christianity.

  26. Moderate?

You are crusing for a trouble with your name-calling.

You are obvisously not smart enough to understand that your words libelous.
