IMRF’s Probe of County Board Members Going Statewide

There was an article in Saturday’s State Journal-Register about Sangamon County Board members in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund pension system.

The county board included one Democratic Party member, Tony DelGiorno, an attorney who is trying to unseat appointed State Rep. Sara Wojcicki Jimenez

In the article, Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund Executive Director Louis Kosiba told reporter Bernie Schoenberg that when a member of the public – state representative or not – raises a question of eligibility, IMRF will look into it.  (I wrote about it yesterday.)

With that invitation, I sent a request that IMRF look into the counties which have county board members in its pension system.

Specifically, I asked IMRF “to determine whether or not the county board members in the following counties meet the eligibility requirements for your pension plan:”

  • Alexander County – 1
  • Christian County – 5
  • Clinton County – 8
  • Coles County – 9
  • DuPage County – 10
  • Edgar County – 1
  • Edwards County – 3
  • Gallatin County – 2
  • Grundy County – 1
  • Hamilton County – 2
  • Hardin County – 3
  • Jackson County – 1
  • Kane County – 21
  • Kankakee County – 1
  • Kendall County – 5
  • Lake County – 16
  • LaSalle County – 12
  • Logan County – 5
  • Macon County – 1
  • Macoupin County – 2
  • Madison County – 20
  • Marion County – 2
  • Marshall County – 3
  • Massac County – 2
  • McHenry County – 22
  • Monroe County – 3
  • Montgomery County – 4
  • Morgan County – 3
  • Ogle County – 7
  • Perry County – 3
  • Piatt County – 1
  • Pope County – 2
  • Pulaski County – 2
  • Randolph County – 3
  • Richland County – 1
  • Rock Island County – 13
  • Sangamon County – 18
  • Scott County – 3
  • St Clair County – 30
  • Tazewell County – 2
  • Union County – 4
  • Vermilion County – 17
  • Wabash County – 3
  • White County – 5
  • Will County – 14
  • Williamson County – 3
  • Winnebago County – 1

The bill that Republican State Senator Pam Althoff passed unanimously and whose House sponsor is Democrat Jack Franks is sponsoring in the House, Senate Bill 2701, does nothing more than require board members in IMRF to keep a log of work performed.

It will be interesting to see what happens once IMRF sends notices to counties besides McHenry.

It probably would be appropriate to classify the stress some county board members will undergo as an unintended consequence of Jack Franks’ fight with the McHenry County Board.

  1. Look at the Disparity of these numbers- 1 versus 30?

Come on- there isn’t that much difference in the work done by the counties.

  2. Heh, heh, Madison County? …. a legendary and sordid nest of parasites on taxpayers.

A gigantic, swarming breeding ground of human-lice and ticks battening on taxpayers … far, far worse than McHenry.

No pretense of ‘sparing’ the hapless taxpayer is even made by the Madison County blood-suckers.

Think of the Madison County Board as one of those enormous termite mounds in Africa (yeah I know those giant termites are not parasitical, but it’s the magnitude of the nidus I’m trying to conjure up your minds!)

Watch out when you try to dismantle the aweful nest!!!!!!

  3. Oh, and St. Clair County is no haven for taxpayers either.

The taxpayer-parasites there are just as numerous, entrenched and fulsome as anything in adjoining Madison Co.

  4. Just out of curiosity what does the county board members get for a pension and what does Jack Franks and the legislatures get for a pension?

I remember seeing I think a while back here about what the county puts in for there pensions but don’t know what they receive?

What does the state legislatures pay into and get?

Is it automatic once they become board members or state legislatures?
