Local 150 Submitted No Legal Bill for $25,000 Payout

Local 150 logoRemember the $25,000 in legal fees that the McHenry County Board voted to pay Local 150 of the International Union of Operating Engineers to go away on its Open Meetings violation lawsuit?

Here’s the guts of the authorizing resolution:

Sitting in the front of the County Board meeting where $25,000 was authorized to be paid to Local 150.

Sitting in the front of the County Board meeting where $25,000 was authorized to be paid to Local 150.

“…the Chairman of the McHenry County Board is hereby authorized to execute the proposed settlement agreement with the Plaintiffs in McHenry County Case No. 15 CH 424 and comply with any terms contained therein including the payment of $25,000 to be paid to Plaintiffs for attorney fees with such payment to be made from the General Fund Fiscal Year 2016 Non-Departmental budget line item OCA 900020-4570 (Non-Departmental – Contingency)…” [Emphasis added.]]

I wondered how the $25,000 compared with the legal fees that Local 150 paid its attorneys.

Guess what?

There’s no way to know.

Read the following reply to my Freedom of Information request to the McHenry County State’s Attorney:

No itemization of Local 150's legal bills was submitted to the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office or County Board.

No itemization of Local 150’s legal bills was submitted to the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office or County Board.

That means the $25,000 figure was snatched out of the air.

  1. Any Board member who voted to GIVE THESE TAXPAYER DOLLARS to a union so they could use that money to campaign against conservative candidates should resign from office in total embarrassment!!

  2. The MCB should avoid doing any construction projects.

Freeze all construction spending until we have prevailing wage and RTW reforms.

  3. lol lol lol You can’t make this tuff up.

The total incompetence of the kangaroo court “juristiction” of our local governance is a huge joke.

Seriously, who are these people that are so stupid?

How do they find their way to the meetings and back home again?

  4. Well the Board needs to go to the local 150 & DEMAND
Attorney Billing receipts from the local 150 ! ! !

  5. Answer this question:

Would Jack Franks have supported the settlement?

  6. If this was the less damaging decision, we can only imagine what the board would have really been up against if the lawsuit had gone further.

Every single one of these dunces has to be held accountable, and Gottemoller and Walkup have no business being put in charge of public dollars.

At least Franks is working to expose corruption and poor stewardship of tax dollars.

I’ll take that over making dumb mistakes and having to give in to unions to avoid going to jail.

I don’t blame the union when the County Board was such a mark.

We should be ashamed of the board members for being so careless.
