“Franks qualified that saying he’d give up the Rep. race if the Committee can pick another candidate who’s both ‘electable’ and holds a political outlook consistent with his own.”
But Franks still hasn’t pulled out of the race.
Even though he is campaigning for County Board Chairman.
The small print says no one has so far withdrawn from the November ballot.
He told Reboot Illinois, “I had to do a gut check to see where I could do the most good.”
So, why isn’t Franks able to do “the most good” in Springfield?

Franks “is one of those thorns at the legislative garden party who needles just about everyone.
“He makes loud speeches a lot; he rails from the floor; he asks for fiscal notes demanding to know what proposals cost.
“He issues a lot of press releases about how he’s fighting for taxpayers, transparency, better government and preserving the American way of life.
“That’s all easy to write; much tougher to do.”
So, Franks seems to be leaving Springfield because he isn’t able to get much done.
After over 17 years.

I was at the home of one of Rauner’s cabinet members on Saturday and his staffers said that Jack had withdrawn from the race, and had sent a letter to the Springfield paper attacking the gridlock.
Well, I guess the cabinet member is as wrong as the newspapers, TV and radio.
