Dodge Ram Hits Chevy Trailblazer Sending 15-Year Old Driver to Condell Hospital in Critical Condition

Sheriff’s Office Investigates Two Vehicle Traffic Crash

A 15 year old McHenry juvenile was hospitalized Thursday afternoon in critical condition and a 17 year old Johnsburg juvenile was transported with non-life threatening injuries after a two vehicle accident in the intersection of Ringwood Road and Spring Grove Road in unincorporated McHenry.

Preliminary investigation indicated that a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 pulling a flatbed trailer was traveling northbound on Spring Grove Road at 12:20 p.m., Thursday.

The Dodge Ram failed to yield at the stop sign at Ringwood Road and struck a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling westbound on Ringwood Road.

The driver of the Chevrolet, the 15 year old juvenile, was transported by Flight for Life to Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville and his 17 year old juvenile passenger was transported by ambulance to Centegra Hospital McHenry.

The 18 year old male passenger of Johnsburg was uninjured.

The driver of the Dodge, a 35 year old male of Marengo, and his passenger, a 31 year old male, of Harvard, were also uninjured.

There was no airbag deployment in the Chevrolet and there was driver side airbag deployment in the Dodge.

It is unknown if seat belts were worn at that time of crash.

An investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Investigations Unit.

The Investigation includes if the 15 year old driver was legally driving at the time of the crash.

Citations are expected as the investigation continues. Members of the McHenry Fire Protection District along with the Johnsburg Police Department, McHenry County Department of Transportation and McHenry Township Road District assisted at the scene.

    defensively when we’re out and about.

    Seems like there is an ever increasing number of fools
    on the road these days who are accidents waiting to happen.
