Useless Referendum Set to Be Put on Fall Ballot

“SHALL THE NUMBER OF COUNTY BOARD MEMBERS BE REDUCED FROM THE CURRENT 24 MEMBERS?”

Trash cans.

Voting in trash cans would make as much sense as voting on a County Board Cut Back Referendum.

That’s the question the McHenry County Board will vote upon on Tuesday at its Board meeting.

If Pat Quinn did nothing else, he proved through his Cut Back Amendment that when one asks if there should be fewer elected officials, the answer from voters is an overwhelming “Yes.”

So, if the County Board and everyone else with an ounce of political sense knows the result, what’s the reason for putting it to a vote?

Undoubtedly, no member of the County Board will provide a reason in the comments section of McHenry County Blog.
