Jack Franks Still Running for State Rep. – Part 19

A teenage girl was on Walkup Avenue in Crystal Lake today passing out literature intended to promote Jack Franks’ candidacy for County Board Chairman.

The side of the black and white product of a copy machine says, “Jack Franks, State Representative, 63rd District.”

The first salvo of Jack Franks candidacy for McHenry County Board Chairman.

The first salvo of Jack Franks candidacy for McHenry County Board Chairman.

He touts

“The Courage to be Independent, the Strength to Lead.”

No indication that he is a candidate for County Board Chairman.

Of course, he does not mention he is a Democrat.

On the back is a June 2nd article from the Northwest Herald about a County Board committee’s having recommending pulling out of the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund pension system.

Jack Franks reprints an article from the Northwest Herald on the back of his first piece.

Jack Franks reprints an article from the Northwest Herald on the back of his first piece. Of course, he doesn’t mention the almost $60,000 pension he will receive for his part-time job of State Representative.

Only because the County Board delayed so long to do the obvious does Franks have the opportunity to use the article on behalf of his campaign.

Franks is now an official candidate for two offices:

  1. State Representative
  2. McHenry County Board Chairman

As you can see by clicking here, he is still on the ballot to run for his tenth term as State Representative.

He has not withdrawn from the State Rep. race, as he promised every member of the media, but McHenry County Blog.

Jack Franks Still Running for State Rep. – Part 19 — 6 Comments

  1. The “Supporters of Jack D Franks” political action committee (PAC) on the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) website, committee ID 19464, states Jack Franks is a candidate for State Representative 63rd District.

    No mention of McHenry County Board Chair.

    There is no Jack Franks PAC for McHenry County Board Chair.

    The campaign flyer listed above does not mention McHenry County Board Chair.

    Even though the newspapers reported Jack Franks is running as Democrat for McHenry County Board Chair, not State Representative, unless he can find someone he believes is both electable and holds views consistent with his own.

    Here is the wording on the ISBE website.

    “Supporters of Jack D Franks”

    “Purpose: Support and encourage the candidacy of Jack D Franks for State Representative in the General Assembly in the 63rd District of Illinois.”

    ++++++++++

    McHenry County Board pension payouts are far less than Lake County & DuPage County Board pension payouts.

    +++++++++++

    With SB 777 Jack Franks voted to kick the can on Chicago Police and Fire pension funding which:

    1. Results in lower current taxpayer costs at the expense of higher future taxpayer costs and higher overall costs in the long run.

    2. More strongly force taxpayers to fund those pensions making Chicago police and fire funding more like IMRF funding (which pension fund is next).

    3. If a Chicago casino(s) is built revenue will go to Chicago police and fire pensions.

  2. He must be planning on dragging the Republican candidate for the County Board Chair thru the mud and then will slate in one of his Democrat cronies.

    The Republican candidate had better be clean as a whistle with no skeletons in his closet and better not have ticked anyone off!!!

  3. Unless someone (or group) steps forward to direct Mr. Walkup and run a campaign to expose the real lying Jack Franks, lying Jack will become Board Chairman and retain his House seat.

    If Mr. Walkup thinks he can beat lying Jack based on just his name, he has his head in that dark place.

    Where are the people distributing Walkup literature?

    Jack is a practiced liar and being a ‘nice guy’ cannot defeat him.

  4. Has the McHenry Co GOP provided walk lists to candidates/precinct committeemen yet?

    I guess we will have to wait for Prim to run again for any action out of the McHGOP ‘leadership’.

  5. As of right now the Illinois State Board of Election website indicates Jack Franks still has not withdrawn as a candidate for 63rd District State Representative position in the November 8, 2016 General Election.

    Even though the press reported Sunday May 15, 2016, the day of a Democrat meeting at which Jack Franks was selected to run as McHenry County Board chair, that Jack Franks was withdrawing from the 63rd Democrat State Representative election aka won’t seek to retain that position aka relinquishing, etc.

    There was a string attached to the withdrawal that was, at least initially, reported by one reporter at one internet only newspaper, Peter Gonigan of First Electric News (which serves Algonquin, Lake in the Hills, and Huntley), in one sentence.

    “Later, in a First Electric Newspaper interview, Franks qualified that saying he’d give up the Rep. race if the Committee can pick another candidate who’s both ‘electable’ and holds a political outlook consistent with his own.”

    To paraphrase Jack Franks would withdraw if the Democrats can find a candidate that he (in addition to the Democrats) believes is electable and whom he (in addition to Democrats) believes holds a political outlook consistent with his own.

    Thus it’s a double qualifier.

    The candidate must

    * pass the scrutiny of the Democrat selection process

    AND

    * Jack Franks scrutiny.

    Jack Franks indicated he holds a lot of power in that selection process.

    A little different but reminds one of Rod Blagojevich having the power to appoint Barack Obama’s replacement as US Senator when Barack Obama was elected President of the United States of America.

    As of right now the http://www.franks4illinois.com website states Jack Franks is running for McHenry County Board Chairman, and the Democrat party has until late August to name a replacement for Jack Franks as Democrat 63rd State Representative Candidate.

    But the election is November 8th.

    So the Democrats could name a replacement for Jack Franks as Democrat 63rd State Representative candidate as late as 2.5 months prior to the election.

    And it could be another 3 months until the Democrats and Jack Franks name a replacement for Jack Franks as Democrat 63rd State Representative candidate in the November 8, 2016 election.
