Jack Franks Contributions

State Representative Jack Franks is good at getting headlines and at raising money.

The Northwest Herald headline from early June of 2014 about Jack Franks' promise not to run for McHenry County Board Chairman.

In the second quarter of this year, he reported having raised $45,754.91.

He spent $35,108.55 during those three months, so he managed to increase his campaign fund total to $572,376.31.

No one things he will spend anywhere near that amount in his campaign for the McHenry County Board Chairmanship.

With some thinking he might be planning to use the McHenry County office as a stepping stone to statewide office, it would be logical for him to minimize the money spent locally to that which he thinks is necessary to win the office.

Seen below are the contributors and amounts given to Jack Franks campaign fund, which still lists him as a candidate for State Representative. No mention is made of the office he is now seeking.

The largest contributor at $5,000 is a firm of attorneys. there are a couple of other lawyer contributions as well.

Thirty-four is my count the number of organizations that lobby legislators writing checks to Franks.

Eight McHenry County businesses are listed as having given money.

Seven union locals are represented among Franks’ contributors.

The state’s two electric utilities are listed as contributors (Ameren and Commonwealth Edison). Franks voted for legislation to allow them to raise their electric rates without Illinois Commerce Commission approve.

Jack Franks' backflip on opposing Com Ed rate hikes was announced last night on Twitter.

Jack Franks’ back flip on opposing Com Ed rate hikes was announced the day before the vote on Twitter by ABC’s Charles Thomas..

Gambling opponent (see “morally wrong” quote from Daily Herald at link) Franks accepted a contribution from Caesars Entertainment Operating Company of Los Vegas.

I see only three contributions from individuals.

None of the Host Committee on his latest Chicago fundraiser gave enough money to have their names listed as donors.  That was the second Chicago fundraiser for 2016.

Franks Asks County For 2 Advisory Referendums
    by Kevin P Craver

“It was pressure from Franks, most notably in the form of a 2012 referendum to change to a county executive form of government, that resulted in the successful March 2014 ballot initiative to make the County Board chairmanship popularly elected starting in 2016.”

Franks: I can Promise I’m Not Running for County Chairman
Continued from Page A1 (the above Kevin Craver article)

“Franks made clear that he is not pushing for County Board changes as an effort to run for the chairman’s seat in two years, following the footsteps of former State Senators Chris Lauzen and Dan Cronin, now chairman of the Kane and DuPage County Boards.”

“‘I can promise you I am not running for county chairman in 2016.

This has nothing to do with me.

    This is about good government.'”

  3. Mark,

Are you really so ignorant to the fact that many times candidates say they aren’t running for office before they actually do?

I can provide examples, or you can keep posting and gesticulating towards these platitudes.

  4. The June 6, 2014 Northwest Herald has some good information about what Jack Franks said.

“I can promise you I am not running for county chairman in 2016.”

    Promise.
