Sheriff’s Office Investigates Multiple Vehicle Traffic Crash – July 31st, 2016
A 51-year-old Hoffman Estates man was flown to Condell Hospital and a 72-year-old Woodstock man was transported by ambulance to Centegra-Woodstock following a three-vehicle crash on Illinois Route 47, north of Hercules Road, in unincorporated Woodstock Sunday.
Preliminary investigation indicates that at 12:26 p.m., a 2006 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling southbound on Illinois Route 47 when it failed to reduce speed and hit the back of a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle.
The impact pushed the motorcycle into the rear of a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe, which was stopped in traffic.
The driver, and sole occupant of the Suburban, Robert Harney, was treated by Woodstock Fire Protection District and transported to Centegra-Woodstock Hospital with minor injuries.
The driver, and sole rider, of the Harley Davidson was flown by Flight for Life to Condell Hospital in Libertyvile, IL where he remains in stable condition with non-life threatening conditions.
The driver of the Tahoe, a 64-year-old male from Yorkville, and the passenger, a 64 year-old female from Yorkville, were treated at the scene and released.
Alcohol is suspected of playing a role in the crash and Harvey was charged with Aggravated Driving No airbags deployed in Suburban or the Tahoe and all occupants of the two vehicles were wearing their seat belts.
The rider of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
An investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Crash Investigations Unit. Members of the Woodstock Fire Protection District, and the Woodstock Police Department also assisted at the scene.
