Serwatka Sets Final Tax Petition Signing Time Thursday

An email from Lakewood Village Trustee Paul Serwatka:

*** FINAL CHANCE TO SIGN THE PROPERTY TAX PETITION ***

This Thursday – Aug 4thfrom 5:00 – 7:30 p.mI will have a tent and petitions set-up, in the parking lot, at the new “Turnberry Park”, located directly across the street from Turnberry Country Club. The exact address is 9601 Turnberry Trail.

You can simply drive-up, sign the petition, and be on your way – without even getting out of your car – or you can park and take a peek at the nearly completed, first phase of the new Turnberry Park!

Bring ALL registered voters in the house and perhaps a neighbor or two!

YOUR help in this effort is very much needed as we approach the August 8th deadline for petitions to be filed in Springfield.

If you are unable to make this event, please send me an email at:Paul@LakewoodTaxFighter.com and we can arrange for you to sign the petition.

STILL DON’T KNOW WHAT THIS IS ABOUT?

For those not aware, I am currently working on an initiative to place an Advisory Referendum on the ballot for the upcoming General Election on November 8th, 2016.

This referendum will give Lakewood residents an opportunity to formally vote in the General Election, on whether or not local government bodies – particularly our own Village Board – should be able to raise our property tax levy each year without first allowing residents an opportunity to formally vote on it.

The petition that Lakewood Village Trustee Paul Serwatka is circulating.

PLEASE come out this Thursday and sign the petition – and PLEASE, bring your spouse, neighbors, etc.

If you are not able to attend this event, please let me know and I can arrange a time to meet with you, at your home.

I hope to see you Thursday!

  1. Don’t forget to address the paradox created by your Lakewood TIF District:

While Lakewood citizens will enjoy all the tax revenue for 34 years from the TIF, if low income housing is created there (as resolved by Lakewood Trustees in summer of 2015 in order to comply with Illinois Affordable Housing Act), an obligation of cost is created for those new students.D200 taxpayers are on the hook for this cost.

But in return for waiver of litigation against this questionable tif-on-golf-courses-and-cornfields, Lakewood Trustees signed an agreement to pay D200 about $9000 per year per student from TIF.

Make sure you explain how Lakewood will pay additional $9000 per year multiplied by who knows how many low income housing students, without raising levy?

  2. Susan, as you know, I not only vehemently opposed that horrendous intergovernmental agreement between Lakewood and Woodstock D200, but, I challenged each of the other Lakewood trustees, individually, to stand before the public and explain how they could possibly, in good conscience, put Lakewood residents at such unfathomable risk.

No surprise this challenge fell on deaf ears.

  3. Queen Erin (not to be confused with King Aaron) will bring the full force of her army of lawyers to keep the referendum off the ballot!

    Sorry!
