Franks Cashing Investments for Campaign

MoneybagsThere is now doubt that Democrat Jack Franks has enough money to think he can buy election as McHenry County Board Chairman.

After all, he had $572,276.31 in resources at the end of June and has picked up $9,500 since then:

  • $1,000 – Gary Lang Auto Group,McHenry
  • $1,500 – Ameren (the Downstate counterpart to Com Ed), St. Louis
  • $1,000 – Chicago Land Operators Joint Labor Managemnet PAC
  • $5,000 – Joshus Scheinfeld, Managing Member, Lincoln Park Capital, Chicago
  • $1,000 – [Bill] Houlihan Campaign Fund, Springfield

He had $48,328.09 in his checking account at the end of the month, so that meant he had ready cash of almost $58,000 to spend on his current campaign.

But, that apparently wasn’t enough.

State Board of Election reports show that he has pulled $45.000 from his investments.  (There may be $10,000 reported twice, since two such withdrawals from the 1st National Bank Of Omaha were reported on the same day.)

Why is he spending so much money when his opponent, Republican Mike Walkup is showed very little money (not $1,600) in his campaign account at the end of June?

The reason is pretty obvious.

If Franks loses this race, his political career is over.

He could hope to be appointed a Federal Judge if Hillary Clinton wins the Presidency.

After all he was a Hillary Clinton Delegate in both 2008 and 2016.

  1. Has the little liar seen too much truth come out about his record?

Thanks go out to Mark, Cal and others for doing their research relative to the REAL character of the former candidate for D-63.

    What is a liar?

    A person who lies.

    What is a lie?

to make an untrue statement with intent to deceive
or to create a false or misleading impression

    Take your pick.

Listen to the WGN interview and you decide.

Look at his record of public statements and you decide.

When a unit of government passes legislation relative to expending your tax dollars, is it a lie if an elected official goes out to the recipients of that money and states:

    “I got you that money.”?

Remember definition number 2: to create a false or misleading impression.

If you listen closely to his WGN interview, one of the main reasons he quit Springfield is that he has not been able to manipulate local elected Republicans since Rauner was elected as governor.

Those locally elected Republicans, for some reason, had no problem ‘carrying his water’ until Rauner was elected.

  2. Hey Cal, how does this work ?

    How much of that $572,276
Is Franks able to use at this
    Point in time ?

I assume he can make contributions
To other candidates with that money,
But their must be some restrictions.

Where can I read about what POLITICIANS
Can do with such an outrageous amount
Of money they are sitting on ?

  3. This is a fantastic illustration of our political landscape at large.

One philosophy states all elections can be bought because all voters are for sale.

The other philosophy states the voting public still rejects the politics of money buying elections and votes their conscience.

This is an oversimplification of course but the gist is there.

Franks doesn’t need more than 10k to actively run for a do nothing County position.

He’s clearly afraid the Citizens of McHenry County have woken up to his failures to serve them and they will reject him at the ballot box.

It’s actually nice to see proof Franks knows how useless and reviled he is in his home county.

You can’t bring home Springfield and Cook County values to McHenry County and expect a cake walk.

Be very aware Frank’s master is still Madigan, who is one of the most brilliant politicians of our age and who will do anything to take control of McHenry County.

    Madigan doesn’t lose.

Franks has been a very good little catamite for his master.

This race will be a GOTV effort all the way through.

    Never rest.

    Never relent.

Whatever can be done to secure this position for Franks will be done.

We have yet to see any serious effort from Madigan to secure McHenry County for Franks but it is coming and it will be vicious.

In the end, no matter who is elected, it is still only the beginning of the horrors Madigan wants to visit on this county.

Franks is a tool in his arsenal.

    There are many many more.

  4. Franks can spend it all, if he wants to.

Of course, that means he would have that much less to spend on any future race, e.g., Governor or, more realistically, one of the more minor financial statewide offices.

He raised the money before campaign limitations were enacted, so once this honey pot is gone, he will have many fewer resources he can bring to bear on a future elections.

  5. Hey folks, drop down to the thread
‘Franks accused of Speaking Out of
Both Sides of his mouth’ .

Look at a post Mike Walkup made
Today about noon regarding a disturbing
Encounter he had at the county fair
    With Jack Franks.

Again Jack Franks inserted cloven foot
Into mouth & bragging (about money he has for campaign), bullying & threats
Of possible litigation came out .

He just was on the radio 2-3 days ago
Talking about how he will rule Mchenry
    County board etc..

Why would someone go over to their
Opponent & say the things he did ?

This is a person without grace, class
    Or finesse.

    It’s just bullying, mobster-like behavior.

    7. Nancy Vazzano, a managerial position with any public service department. She ran as Democrat McHenry County Treasurer in 2002 and has contributed to the McHenry County Democrat Central Committee.

    8. Fred Shay, primary management position, primarily Info Technology & IDOT Technician.

    9. Ron Giorandano (is it Ron Giordano?), a position on an advisory commission. There is a Ron Giordano that is CEO of HS Crocker in Huntley, and a Ron Giordano is Chairman, of the City of Woodstock, Board of Fire & Police Commissioners.

    10. Susan van Weelden, position on any commission. Susan van Weelden ran as Democrat for Elgin Township Board (Kane County) in 2013. Susan van Weelden was a Dean at McHenry County College & Elgin Communtity College, and Director of Community Engagement and Economic Development at Elgin Community College. Susan Van Weelden is currently retired, pension was $114,419 as of 2014.

    11. Bill Clow, any public service department.

    12. Mary Kennedy, any public service department.

    +++++

That’s the same James Sweeney who along with IUOE Local 150 and Robert Paddock filed a suit (15 CH 000424) against the McHenry County Board on April 17, 2015 for an alleged open meetings act violation when some McHenry County board members, City of Woodstock leaders, press, and others (the Northwest Herald reported about 20 were in attendance) attended a Republican Governor Bruce Rauner event at the Woodstock Opera House on April 8, 2015.

The Northwest Herald has a photo of people seated while listening to Governor Rauner speak at the event.

The general issue of the suit was the IUOE alleged the board had a majority of the quorum discussing board business, with the board claiming while a majority of the quorum may have been present at the Rauner event, such majority of quorums are permissible if no board business is discussed.

The next day on April 9, 2015 the McHenry County Board passed a resolution to support a portion of the Turnaround Agenda, titled “Turnaround Agenda Local Government Empowerment and Reform.

The vote was 16 ayes, 5 nays, 2 absent, and 1 away.

The suit was settled a year later on April 19, 2016 with no admission of guilt, the County passing a resolution agreeing to pay $25,000 to the IUOE Local 150 for legal fees, and the county rescinding the resolution supporting the Turnaround Agenda Local Government Empowerment and Reform.

    +++++

The Governor Bruce Rauner administration, in the Turnaround Agenda, calls for the ability of local taxing districts, if they vote to do so, to waive state mandated prevailing wages. That is right to choose for local communities, not right to work for the entire state.

    The unions are against both.

Thus it is important to read and understand the Turnaround Agenda, which is online.
