Gottemoller Likely to Appoint New Candidate as Replacement for Provenzano

Although there is nothing on the County Clerk’s web site early Monday morning to indicated that McHenry County Board member Nick Provenzano has submitted a letter of resignation, a District 3 Caucus is scheduled for tonight at 7 at the Crystal Lake Plaza Headquarters of the McHenry County Republican Party.

The event is timed so people can attend U.S. Senator Mark Kirk’s fundraiser at The Cottage in Downtown Crystal Lake.

Whomever is selected by the Republican Precinct Committeemen is likely to be appointed to replace Provenzano on the County Board.

County Board Chairman Joe Gottemoller has said that would be the logical thing to do.

Wouldn’t a Kirk fundraiser at Brian Sager’s quaint home be a more fitting venue.

Would he not follow the decision of the PCs?

Joe Gottemoller made it clear at the District 3 caucus tonight that he would appoint its winner to the County Board to replace Nick Provenzano when Provenzano resigns September 6th.
