Patrick Kenneally in his ongoing effort to review the budget and fulfill his commitment to cutting the budget 10% by the end of his first term has announced that, provided there is not an unexpected spike in crime or civil litigation, he will reduce staff by nearly 10%.

  • 1 Civil Attorney Position
  • 2 Criminal Attorney Positions
  • 2 Administrative Staff Positions
  • 1 Investigator Position

Said Kenneally:

“I am committed to running the best, most effective, and most efficient Office in the State.

“With technology upgrades that will automate much of administrative work, hiring and retaining the best and most competent attorneys, and tightening our belt like so many McHenry residents have been forced to themselves over the last few years, I am certain we can continue to aggressively prosecute criminals while at the same time relieving the tax burden on our residents.”

  1. Looks like Patrick is looking out for the people of McHenry County and at the same time not compromising the workings in the State’s Attorney’s Office.

  2. “10%” must be the New Buzz word for us tax payers to pay attention to… Ha!!!

  3. Since Donna Kelly and Ron Salgado have both retired already ( investigator and Attorney of some sort ) by not replacing them, he’s done what to “cut” the budget there in the future?

Not saying he’s not a good choice; but he speaks “politician” quite well.

  4. Am I alone in wanting a State’s Attorney whose message is “Tough on Crime” instead of “Nickel and Dime”..?

The ONLY way you cut costs in a State’s Attorney’s office is by cutting back on prosecuting criminal cases, and by only prosecuting those that are slam-dunks for the office.

And amidst Kenneally’s bean-counter mentality, we get headlines like THIS:
