Nunda Township Picnic Wet, But Not Rained Out

The rain has pretty much stopped by the time the Nunda Township Republican Picnic began at 11 AM Saturday at Crystal Lake’s Veterans Acres.

The grass was wet.

And organizers had figured out that they had brought too much food.

The sun came out a couple of time, noticeably raising the temperature.

Nunda Township Republican Party Chairman Joe Gottemoller gave a speech which was just a tad too short. He was getting down by the time I grabbed my camera.

A surprise were quesadillas with pulled pork inside.

There were also cheeseburger sliders.

Surprise guests at the GOP Picnic were Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. They were surprisingly friendly.

Another surprise were a masked duo.

McHenry County candidates like Joe Tirio (wearing his trademark slogan on his tee shirt here), Mike Walkup (who lives across the street) and Patrick Kenneally were courting voters and party workers.

Because of the low turnout, many guests were given leftovers to take home.

Certain to forget some notables, but here’s an effort to identify them:  Circuit Court Judge Mike Chmiel, State Senator Pam Althoff, County Clerk Mary McClellan, McHenry County Board Chairman Joe Gottemoller, McHenry County Board Chairman candidate Mike Walkup, McHenry County Board members Donna Kurtz and Andrew Gasser, Nunda Township Supervisor Lee Jennings, McHenry Township Road Commissioner Mike Lesperance, McHenry County State’s Attorney candidate Patrick Kenneally, McHenry County Recorder of Deeds candidate Joe Tirio, McHenry County Board candidates Craig Wilcox and Chris Christensen, and Nunda Township Trustee Ed Dvorak.
