The McHenry County Board is accepting applications from individuals interested in appointment to the McHENRY COUNTY HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION.
Three positions are available for appointment terms as follows:
- one term with an expiration date of November 30, 2018 and
- two terms with an expiration date of November 26, 2021.
Attorneys, architects, engineers, real estate professionals with knowledge of historic preservation, and individuals with a demonstrated interest in pre-history, history or architecture are encouraged to apply. Application forms are available at the County Board Office, Room 209, McHenry County Government Center, 667 Ware Road, Woodstock, IL 60098 (815-334- 4214) or at the County’s website at http://www.co.mchenry.il.us/home/showdocument?id=12290.
Completed applications should be returned to the County Board office no later than 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2016. If mailing your application, certified or registered mail is recommended. Mailed applications should be sent to the following address: McHenry County Board, 2200 North Seminary Avenue, Woodstock, IL 60098.

This is a spot that Democrats have used to obtain public office credentials.
For example, District 1 County Board member Nick Chirikos served on the Commission before running for office.
Now, McHenry County Recorder of Deeds candidate Lynn Gray is on the same body.
The members whose terms are expiring follow:
- James McConnell (Chairman), Huntley
- David Gervais, Crystal Lake
- Vacancy due to Jan. 2016 resignation of Eric Hunt, Woodstock
