Message of the Day – Signs

Found this combination of signs in Crystal Lake.

One is for Democratic Party District 2 McHenry County Board candidate Dominique Miller and the other is urging people to vote in favor of the Crystal Lake Library’s advisory referendum concerning a $30.1 million new building.

Signs supporting the campaigns of Democratic Party McHenry County Board member Monique Miller and the advisory referendum about a $30.1 million new Crystal Lake Library.

  1. Vote no on the library referendum.

    They City / Library / Pro Referendum Groups are only providing taxpayers with the estimated Year 1 property tax hike.

    The City also should provide taxpayers with the estimated tax hikes for each year until the bonds are scheduled to be retired (paid off).

    That would allow taxpayers to estimate the total property taxes paid to retire (pay off) the bonds.

    +++++++

    Another reason to vote no:

    The City / Library / Pro Referendum Groups are not providing the estimated debt service schedule for the bonds that would be issued.

    That should include the annual Principal, Interest, and Total paid from the City to bondholders, until the bonds are retired (paid off).

    +++++++

    There are plenty of other ways the City / Library / Referendum Groups are not being transparent about this advisory bond referendum.

    Can you imagine if your kid bought a used car, and you asked him, how much it cost.

    And he told you year 1 cost.

    And you ask him, well what about future years.

    And he said, they didn’t tell me.

    And you asked him, well how much interest will you pay to finance the car.

    And he answered, they didn’t tell me that either.

    That is unfathomable.

    But that is a basic analogy as to what is happening in this library referendum at least up until this point.
