Motorcycle Accident Injures Helmetless Man & Woman on Garden Valley Road, Both Flown to Level 1 Trauma Centers

Motorcycle Crash in Woodstock results in Serious Injury

A 56 year old Elgin man and a 47 year old Elgin female were injured Sunday following a motorcycle crash on Garden Valley Road west of Franklinville Road in unincorporated Woodstock.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Woodstock Fire Protection District responded at 2:14 p.m. to a report of a single motorcycle involved in a crash in the 16,600 block of Garden Valley Road in unincorporated Seneca Township.

Preliminary investigation indicates the 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle was headed east on Garden Valley Road, where it entered a curve, exited the roadway to the right and went into a ditch.

The motorcycle overturned, causing the driver and passenger to be ejected.

The male was transported by Flight for Life to Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.

The female was transported by Flight for Life to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Speed is not believed to be a factor and neither person was wearing a helmet.

The driver is listed in stable condition.

The passenger is listed in serious condition.

The driver, Terrance M. Gospodarek, was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.

Additional charges are pending.

The crash investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Crash Investigation Unit.

  1. The accident happened at the 90 degree turn in front of the Seneca Township building?

  2. Alcohol was the issue.

    Wearing a helmet doesn’t save you when your driver is drunk.
