Acceptance of the 2016 State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) award and an adjustment to the Sheriff’s fiscal year 2017 budget to allow for the proper recording of the revenue and expenditure as allowed by the grant.
Background and Discussion: The Sheriff has been notified by the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, of a SCAAP award in the amount of $88,798. SCAAP provides federal payments to states and localities for incarcerating undocumented criminal aliens who have at least one felony or two misdemeanor convictions for violations of state or local law, and who are incarcerated for at least 4 consecutive days during the reporting period.
Maybe the newly-elected County Board Chairman will attend to propose how next year’s tax levy should be changed.

So this is a different program than the Federal Government paying McHenry County to house Federal inmates?
McHenry County jail does not house inmates for other counties or the state, does it?
Actually McHenry County did house Richard M Daley’s nephew Richard J Vanecko (RJ) convicted in Cook County Court.
He punched David Koschman who later died.
So apparently McHenry County does sometimes house inmates from other counties.
On March 17, 2014, McHenry County was reported to be attempting to renegotiate the $16 a day rate for housing the Cook County inmate due to a 1997 administrative order from Lake / McHenry Raymond McCoski.
McHenry County was receiving $85 dollar a day (which was to expire in 2015) to house Federal inmates, which they were also attempting to renegotiate at the time.
Wonder if either has subsequently been adjusted.
