“Public service is an honor, that’s why I don’t believe any politician should receive a pension.
“Politicians should not be above the law or have special rules apply just to them. Illinois legislators should lead by example.

“I am refusing a pension and will introduce legislation to eliminate all pensions for politicians across the state. Local trustees, county board members, state legislators, even the Governor should not receive a taxpayer funded pension.

“It’s time we reform how government operates and start being accountable to the people.”

“Pensions are very expensive, unsustainable, and risky for taxpayers.

“Taxpayers cannot afford higher taxes or higher liabilities.

“A vast majority of workers in the private sector are expected to manage their own retirements, there is no reason politicians can’t manage their retirements too, Skillicorn continued.”

  1. Andrew, when you start paying your fair share of taxes I will say your welcome.

  2. Last time I checked, you were still living in mommy dearest basement for free.

  3. Umm, shouldn’t he also reject the pension amount refunded back to him.

    Just sayin.

  4. If he doesn’t do that, then there really is no savings to the taxpayer, amiright?

  5. I have no clue what you are talking about.

Each legislator has some pretty hefty percentage taken out his check, if he participates in the pension system.

  6. I didn’t pay property taxes when I was County Treasurer from 1966-1970.

We are pretty much beyond the requirement that voters and/or elected officials be property taxpayers in the United States.

  7. Wow, the stupid has come out in force tonight.

Watching really takes the cake on not understanding that your own money is – YOUR OWN MONEY!

It doesn’t come from some state coffer.

    And this person probably votes!!!!!

I hope they are giving back everything they earn at their place of employment.

After all, it will save everyone SO MUCH money!

  8. There is no employer contribution when an employee opts out of pension system.

So the taxpayer saves on the employer contribution.

Plus in a defined benefit public sector pension system as it stands in Illinois, the taxpayer is responsible for 100% of any shortfall in the pension fund.

Who of the ‘blog attack dogs’ voted for the recent Consitutional change?

Who of the ‘blog attack dogs’ support current Prevailing wage laws?

Who of the ‘blog attack dogs’ have served at least one term in public office?

  10. Finally, an honest man ……… a GIGANTIC improvement from Mike “the Spike” Tryon!

I’m proud to have voted for him!

But wait for what’s coming ….

I have high hopes for him.
