Judy Shammo Joins State’s Attorney’s Office

A press release from McHenry County State’s Attorney Patrick Kenneally:

New McHenry County Assistant State’s Attorney

Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, is pleased to announce that Judy Shammo has been hired as an Assistant State’s Attorney. Ms. Shammo will be joining the Misdemeanor Division.

Ms. Shammo completed her Juris Doctor at Chicago-Kent College of Law. Prior to joining this office,

Ms. Shammo worked for a private firm handling foreclosure defense and real estate matters.

During law school, Ms. Shammo worked as a 711 intern at the Lake County State’s Attorney’s office.

There, she ran hearings and trials under the supervision of an attorney in the office’s Traffic and Misdemeanor Division.

Ms. Shammo was also a member of the nationally ranked Chicago-Kent Trial Advisory Team.

We are fortunate to have such a talented prosecutor join our Office and help further our mission of doing justice on behalf of the residents of McHenry County.

  1. Since the previous State’s Attorney retired, and the newly elected State’s Attorney worked in the office, maybe there were promotions resulting in a vacancy.
