Overdose Results in Arrest for Drug Induced Homicide

A press release from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office:

Drug Induced Homicide Arrest

On April 10, 2016, Lake in the Hills Police Department was dispatched to a residence on Turnberry Ct., Lake in the Hills, Illinois for an unresponsive male who was later pronounced dead.

The LITH Police Department contacted their detective assigned to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Police Narcotics Task Force to assist with the death investigation.

Detectives from both agencies, during a joint investigation, uncovered evidence indicating the man, 26, may have ingested heroin and furanylfentanyl prior to his death.

Through the investigation, detectives learned that Huntley resident Terrance M. Kampas had allegedly
supplied the heroin/furanylfentanyl mix to him.

Over the course of nine months, detectives worked closely with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office and the McHenry County Coroner to collect enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant for Kampas for Drug Induced Homicide.

On January 31, 2017, deputies arrested Kampas without incident at his residence.

Terrance M. Kampas (male 27)
10411 N. Church St. #F6
Huntley, Illinois

Charges:

  • Drug Induced Homicide (class X)
  • Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance (class 2)
