Eight Years for Drug Induced Homicide

A press release from the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office:

ROLANDO AGUILAR SENTENCED TO 8 YEARS FOR DRUG-INDUCED HOMICIDE

Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, is pleased to announce that Rolando Aguilar, age 28, of Wauconda, Illinois plead guilty to the offense of Drug Induced Homicide and was sentenced to 8 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

We will continue to seek extended prison sentences for heroin dealers anywhere whose product kills a member of our community,” said Kenneally.

“I hope dealers are aware that they risk a significant portion of their adult life every time they engage in a heroin transaction.”

On February 10, 2015, Aguilar sold a 28 year-old Port Barrington man heroin.

Upon returning to his home that evening, the victim overdosed on the heroin Aguilar sold him.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation into the death and on February 23, 2015, Aguilar sold additional heroin to an undercover officer with the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

This case was prosecuted by Randi Freese.  The lead investigator was Detective Caitlynn Kelly of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
