Pedestrian Killed on Route 14 — 6 Comments

  1. Watch out for the cellphone blabbers and texters, especially after dark.

These fools are more dangerous than drunk drivers.

  2. Why is the investigation under investigation?

Reported elsewhere: “Just before the crash, Woodstock police received a report of a male matching Anderson’s description walking east in the middle of the westbound lane of Route 14, police said.”

  3. Maybe under investigation because the driver that hit him kept going.

However, there are security cameras in the area.

When I read the details, I remembered a similar incident several years back where I encountered a pedestrian walking down the middle of the highway wearing dark clothes at night.

I too called the authorities but I stopped, put on my four way flashers and warned other drivers – it appears in this instance, someone saw the dude in the street, called the authorities and left.

Interesting that I see drivers stop for ducks, geese, cats, dogs, etc. but when there is an actual person involved, they do not to get involved.

  4. I was at the scene that night.

The woman who saw him, and nearly hit him herself, did stop immediately, and placed the first 911 call.

He was then stuck by a second car (which left the scene, thus the investigation), which was was witnessed by a third car, who also immediately stopped.

The woman in this third car placed the second 911 call, reporting a pedestrian had been hit, after quickly turning her car aroundin the intersection, facing into traffic to light the fallen man and warn oncoming cars.

She was able to stop oncoming traffic and was on the line with 911 as we started CPR on the fallen man.

Please give your fellow citizens the benefit of the doubt rather than jumping to conclusions about whether or not people did all they could to help.

I was one of at least 4 people who took turns doing CPR on the fallen man as we waited for the ambulance to arrive.

A tragedy those who were there that night will not soon forget.

  5. I am the Aunt to Daniel. I want to thank those that stopped to help him.

I have a peace knowing that kind souls were with him at the end.

    God Bless you all.

Now to the one that feels the case should be closed.

    Daniel was a Son a brother a father a Grandson a nephew a friend.

How can you be so cruel to have such disregard for a human being is beyond me.

It just shows what kind of person you are.

  6. Cheryl, my deepest sympathies.

It is we who are left behind that need comfort now.

May the Lord favor you with the peace that passes all understanding.

    Know that Daniel is safe.
