Huntley School Board Candidate Lesli Melendy Complains of McHenry County Clerk’s Office Having Misspelled Her Name, State Sen. Karen McConnaughay’s Chief of Staff

Lesli Melendy, running for Huntley School District 158 Board, complained in a letter to the Northwest Herald that McHenry County Clerk Mary McClellan spelled her name wrong on the handout about candidates.

“I have serious concerns about the McHenry County Clerk’s Office.

“In this year’s consolidated primary, a candidate’s name was spelled wrong on the official ballot, even though the mistake had been brought to the county clerk’s attention prior to election day.”

What does the complaining candidate do?

She is State Senator Karen McConaughay’s Chief of Staff.

The ballot on the County Clerk’s web site now looks like this:

Huntley School District sample ballot for 2017.

All are incumbents but Melendy.

  1. Here name is not misspelled on ballot.

This is nothing more than a whole lot of hot air.

The official ballot is all that matters.

  2. She is complaining about the voter guide not that her name was mispelled on the ballot.

“Most recently, in the election guide the clerk distributed as an insert in the Northwest Herald, my name was spelled incorrectly.”

  3. There are four candidates running for four seats.

    No competition in that race.

Will be interesting to see the property tax extension the next four years.

  4. I don’t know about that when it comes to Gov. things

I prefer my Name be spelled correctly, there are all sorts of things that could come of a mis-spell..

I have to agree and this is just another reason why this person needs to be Gone!!! out of her position she can’t handle it when is someone going to do something?

  5. what is she complaining about ?

there are 4 names and vote for 4.

Is it that important that she sees her name in print?

No way would anyone from that family get my vote.

  6. There is no place for misspelling, especially in public or professional materials in any form; handouts, newspaper, magazine, agendas, reports, etc.
You could wonder, What other facts are wrong? It diminishes credibility with an expected innate response of “typo”.

Whether you like her or not, it’s shocking that people are bashing Ms. Melendy over a valid complaint!
Our clerk is an incompetent embarrassment and needs to go – and NOT to the bench!
