A press release from McHenry County Recorder of Deeds Joe Tirio:
County Board Overwhelmingly Approves Resolution to Eliminate the Role of McHenry County Recorder
WOODSTOCK, IL – As the votes were tallied in Tuesday’s full County Board meeting, the County moved a bit closer to fulfilling County Recorder Tirio’s promise to eliminate the very office he ran for.“It’s very exciting…” said Tirio, “to plan and work for something meaningful, and then to pass the milestones as you continue toward your goal.
“Perhaps more important is the fact that this will be on the March 2018 Primary Election ballot and that the people will have an opportunity to choose.
“Choosing to integrate the two offices will be a historic decision and an observable expression of the
steps that McHenry County government is willing to take in order to provide tax relief to its citizenry.”
The County Recorder’s Office records Real Estate documents, returning veteran’s DD-214 forms and other documents and keeps an index of these documents, some of which go back to the 1830’s.
