A press release from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department:

Vehicle hits Motorized Wheelchair in Fatal Crash

A 62-year-old male was pronounced dead Saturday following a crash between a car and a motorized
wheelchair.

On July 1, 2017, at 1:24 p.m., the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Johnsburg Police Department
and the McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded to a crash in the 700 block of
Ringwood Road, west of Memory Trail.

The crash involved a 2016 Subaru Forester and a Permobil F3 Corpus Wheelchair.

The investigation determined that the Subaru Forester was traveling eastbound on Ringwood Road when it struck the Permobil F3.

There were no other passengers in the Subaru.

Seatbelts were worn by the drivers of the Subaru and the Permobil F3.

At this time alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

The driver of the car, a 65-year-old male, was transported to Centegra Hospital-McHenry for minor injuries.

He is cooperating with the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
