No Finale for Crystal Lake Fireworks Show

A press release from the City of Crystal Lake about last night’s fireworks:

Independence Day Fireworks Show Update

Crystal Lake – The City’s Independence Day Fireworks Show on July 2, 2017 ended prematurely due to an error in the firework vendor’s computer control system.

One of the final fireworks explosions.

Originally, the body of the show was scheduled to last 26 1⁄2 minutes, followed by a 1 1⁄2 minute grand finale.

Due to the computer error, the show’s 1 1⁄2 minute grand finale did not activate, thus shortening the show.

The City apologizes for the shortened show and the confusion that followed.

The City utilizes a private vendor to provide the show and actions will be taken in the future to resolve this issue.

  1. Sounds like it was a fortunate taxpayer savings windfall.

This is the only way to get government to cut spending….by pure accident.

  2. I think it is insane to waster money on blowing things up.

What they spent on this is more than I have to live on for a whole year!

    Decadent.

  3. I smell terrorism. Sunshine blogger, please get to the bottom of this…that is, after you finish your free lunch…tic, tock, tic, tock…

  4. 13,000$ of the fireworks 39,000$ budget was donated by one, pro-American individual.
