Skillicorn Says “Compromise” Isn’t

A press release from State Rep. Allen Skillicorn:

As Override Vote Looms, Skillicorn Says Madigan Tax Hike is Far From Compromise

SPRINGFIELD – State Representative Allen Skillicorn (R-East Dundee) says the massive tax hike and last minute budget rammed through the Illinois General Assembly and vetoed by Governor Rauner is far from compromise.

When the vote was taken in the House of Sunday, Skillicorn said that dropping 1,200 pages of legislation on the floor and voting within a few hours is not working together to fix Illinois’ problems.

“To fix Illinois we need to work together, which is why so many of us chose to wear purple, a symbol of red and blue coming together,” said Skillicorn.

“However, in the matter of a few hours on Sunday, more than 1,200 pages of new legislation were dropped on the House floor and votes were taken.

“These bills included a massive hike and a budget that did nothing to reform Illinois’ broken system.

“The Governor rightly vetoed these bills because they utterly failed to represent compromise and put Illinois on a path forward. They were far from being purple.”

Skillicorn continued, “As the House takes up votes to override the Governor’s vetoes today, I implore

“my colleagues to remember that Illinoisans want us to reform our broken system. This means the vetoes must stand, we must return to the negotiating table and build true compromise that will reform our state’s broken system and prevent a massive tax hike that will drive more people out of Illinois.”

  1. To the DEMOCRATS “compromise” means capitulation to their demands – NOT ACCEPTABLE.

    Stand strong, Rep. Skillicorn.

  2. Re: “we must return to the negotiating table”

When will the voters in this State come to understand there is a difference between negotiation and capitulation?

Yesterday I even heard Andersson spout that the bond rating for the State is dependent on bipartisanship!

Is he really that dumb or do the Dems have the ‘goods’ on him?

Check the difference between the current bond rating of McHenry County and Springfield.

Although several of the 23 McHenry County Board members are really Dems who ran as Republicans to get elected, the Board is Republican versus Springfield which is Democrat.

McHenry County rating = AAA State of Illinois? 1 step above JUNK! for now.

The “round mound” was a party to the destruction of the State and now he is going to do the same with the County by insinuating his political cronies in key positions.

How many hours per week does his sidekick (useful tool), Mrs. Bisset spend in the County building now?

Anyone involved in politics in this state who still believes there is such a thing as true bipartisanship has not read Alinsky’s Rules for radicals which is the playbook for the Democrats.

  3. In another year … the goons will still be in an even worse financial fix!
