Correction: Rauner Already Lowered the Boom on Legislators’ Air Travel

Missed this change in policy shortly after Governor Bruce Rauner took office.

The new Governor ordered the Department of Transportation to stop taking legislators to and from Chicago by state plane as of July 1, 2015.

Two alert readers commented on my mistake under this article.

When I was in the state bureaucracy staffing Governor Jim Thompson’s Cost Containment Task Force, closing down the shuttle was one of my suggestions.

Seemed more than a little wasteful to be competing with private airlines.

When Rauner was courting voters at a Nunda Township Republican Central Committee meeting, I made the same suggestion.

Maybe he was listening.

    Same old tired and failed leaders.

    How sad.

    MOVE to another state…..is the message.

    Madigan is a DISASTER….but the alternative is improved incompetence.
