Sitting in the shade watching the Lake in the Hills Labor Day Weekend Parade, I was, as usual, looking for political tea leaves.
The first was a candidate for the Democratic Party nomination for Congress–Jim Walz.
Walz was the party nominee last year and seeks a re-match with Republican Randy Hultgren.
There are a whole passel of opponents for the Democratic Party nomination, none of whom have found McHenry County Blog.
Walz was courting a couple with a baby and dog.
The husband told him he was more a Republican, but he and his wife talked with Walz at least fifteen minutes.
“Whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat, I’ve found we’re more alike than we are different,” he said, then, continuing west on the parade route. (Walz did not have an entry in the parade.)
Excite among the kids began to build as they heard the sirens from out-of-sight fire engines.
An older Veteran was the first to pass by a bit ahead of the color guard.
He was passing out small American Flags to children.
This event is definitely for the whole family.
This was the first candy tosser in the Lake in the Hills Parade.Kids were prepared to gather candy for their plastic bags.
The Lake in the Hills American Legion had a flag-filled entry.
Folks sometimes forget that some Lake in the Hills teens attend Crystal Lake South High School.
This past school year, Crystal Lake South’s baseball team was outstanding.
Behind the banner was a truck, presumably carrying baseball team members.
The entry seems special, so I took another shot.
The next entry that caught my attention was that of the Village officials.
I ran around the truck to get those on the other side.
Two McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputies came riding down the street on motorcycles.
Next came lots of fire engines.
Springbrook Church had mainly teens in superhero costumes.
They were a crowd pleaser.
There were lots of youth groups.
The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Library District had a fascinating entry.
But then things got really exciting for the children along the route.
Library volunteers were handing out free books, which one nearby mother immediately read to her child.
With the name, “Cal’s Angels,” how could I miss taking a picture?
Next came an overtly political entry.
It was for Democratic Party gubernatorial hopeful Daniel Biss.
LITH Parade 2017 Bill banner
Carrying a banner was a man who manned a Biss booth at the McHenry County Fair.
There was a boxing ring on the back of a truck.
Two girls were going at it with their instructor. (Sorry, but I didn’t get the name of the martial arts school.)
The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry was represented in the parade.
The Living Waters Lutheran Church had enthusiastic singers, but the volume could have been higher.
Next, there was something I have not seen before.
A snow plow truck with the message, “Parade Special, $17,500.” Unfortunately, the name of the seller was not on the blade with the message.
Huntley Community Radio was getting the message of its existence out.
And, then, the parade was over.
Just as in the McHenry parade, the Republican Party had no presence.
No County Board members from District 5.
No Donna Kurtz Mobile from District 2.
No nothing for the GOP.
And, come to think of it, this Labor Day Parade had no unions represented.
Did that little baby get disinfected after the Walz phot op?
Jack Franks probably told them to stay home.
They always do what Jack says.
How about:
“GOP and Endorsed Officials Abandon Republican Platform”!
Supply names of the folks in the LITH float. First photo, the adults left to right: Bob Bozo, David Dipschitt, and Iggy Idiot.
Not all local GOPers are bad …
some were slated for execution this year by libtard/Red extremists.
Does anybody have the cites for that …..
Diane Evertsen was one of threatened people and it all appeared on some blog by a goon in Cary, I believe.
The Springbrook Church Hall of Justice float and characters wins the most decorated award.
Added bonus, the costumes can be used for Halloween.
GOP skipped the Algonquin parade in 2016 as well.
It was CLS Baseball team not basketball
Our sunshine blogger dyed his hair green…Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. The first Labor Day celebration occurred on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City, in accordance with the plans of the Central Labor Union. The Central Labor Union held its second Labor Day holiday one year later. History records show we are about to celebrate Labor Day for the 136th time. See a worker, thank a worker…tic, tock, tic, tock
Revision time.
Thanks, citizen editor.
Perhaps they were ashamed (or too scared) to show their faces.
Xout42, the G.O.P. was in the Alg parade last year.
Some had Entry’s of their own and some walked with Alg township Republicans.
The parade stopped traffic and they marched down Alg. Rd .
Interesting the the Grand Marshall for LITH Sunset Festival parade was from Crystal Lake.
Crystal Lake South Gators Baseball Team -2017 Class 4A State Champions
Parades are for kids, the adults don’t even care which poltical hacks are making the parade longer.
Walk your voting district, press a palm, that works much better than the plastic waving of hands and fake smiles.
Amen Nob.
GOP are non-violent not at all like the paid Democrat protesters.
We believe ALL LIVES MATTER!!
We don’t kill those who protect us, we don’t block streets and keep THE WORKING PEOPLE FROM THEIR JOBS, WE DON’T DESTROY OTHER PEOPLE’S PROPERTY, WE TALK TO PEOPLE WE DON’T ASSAULT THEM IF THEY DON’T AGREE WITH US, AND WE DON’T STUFF BALLET BOXES WITH ILLEGAL BALLETS.
SO WHY WOULD WE JOIN A PARADE OF THOSE WHO DO ALL THESE THINGS.??
“The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Library District had a fascinating entry” – Your snark is meandering, focus.
Should I have used the adjective “praiseworthy?”
We all agree that there are some pronounced differences and a few subtle differences in the typical GOP candidate versus Democrat candidate.
The GOP platform is still pro life and respect life.
Tomorrow starts petition gathering, so be kind to those who simply wish to get on the ballot to serve, run for office and reform our government.
Best to all who want to serve,
