Karen McConnaughay Running for Re-Election

A message from State Senator Karen McConnaughay to her supporter and friends:

I believe that public service is an admirable and an essential foundation of our democracy.

Since being elected to Illinois State Senate in 2012, our community, our state and our democracy has faced many challenges.

Now more than ever, we must rededicate ourselves to civic engagement.

Your willingness to once again step up and help our campaign means a great deal to me, and I thank you.

I am running for the State Senate again because like you, it is my strong belief that as citizens we are obligated to provide a better future for the next generation.

It is essential that we look to that future with solutions that include efficiency in government services, fiscal responsibility, and compassion for the less fortunate.

During my time in the General Assembly, I have worked everyday to advocate for pension reform, property tax relief, and education funding reform and strongly support the initiatives that will eliminate the gerrymandering of our legislative districts.

As a member of the Commission on Restorative Justice and Co-Chair of the Human Trafficking Task Force, I have seen first hand the impact on our civil society.

We can and must do better.

The next step in this campaign is to make sure that we circulate our petitions and ask for the signatures of qualified Registered Voters in the 33rd Senate District who are willing to support my candidacy and put my name on the March 20, 2018 primary ballot.

The law requires that we submit the signatures of 1,000 registered qualified Republican voters.

Because there are always invalid signatures, we have set a higher goal of 2,000.

If you can get a minimum of twenty signatures, starting with your own, and the other members of your household, we will be well on our way to reaching our goal.

Attached please find a petition, a page of instructions, and a map of the 33rd District that will help to familiarize you with the boundaries.

I encourage to you to please read the instructions carefully, even if you have done this many times before, it is important to review the current law and follow it to the letter.

Your time is valuable.

So we want to make this process as efficient.

On Saturday, September 16th we will be walking precincts in Huntley.

It would be great if you could join us for a couple of hours.

If you are not able to walk, but want to turn in the signed petitions sheets you have circulated, we will provide a notary (and a cup of coffee).

Where: Morkes Chocolates, 11801 Main Street, Huntley
When: 9:45 a.m. – noon

We will be in touch with you with future petition and walk events that we will be having throughout the fall.

Fondly,
Karen McConnaughay
