An autopsy performed today in the Coroner’s Office revealed that Mr. McCaffery had extensive cardiac disease.

It does not appear at this time that his death was due to drowning though the final cause of death is pending additional studies.

McHenry County Coroner, Dr. Anne Majewski, announced this afternoon that her office is investigating the death of a Crystal Lake man who died yesterday afternoon, September 24, 2017, at Centegra Huntley Medical Center after he was pulled out of the water at Crystal Lake Main Beach by a bystander who observed the man fall face first forward into the water. A 911 call went out at 1358 (1:58pm) with Crystal Lake Fire and Rescue and Crystal Lake Park District and Lakewood Police responding to the scene. The deceased, identified to be Edward B. McCaffery, age 59, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, was transported to Centegra Huntley Medical Center and subsequently pronounced deceased at 1453 (2:53pm). An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow in the McHenry County Coroner’s Office. The death remains under investigation by all agencies.
