Rauner Ready to Help Puerto Rico

A press release from Governor Bruce Rauner:

Governor Reaches Out to Puerto Rico

Illinois Ready to Deploy 550 Guardsmen If Needed

CHICAGO (October 2, 2017) – Governor Bruce Rauner is reaching out to officials in Puerto Rico, letting them know the state of Illinois stands ready to assist with recovery efforts after Hurricane Maria’s devastating impact on the island.

Right now, more than 550 Illinois National Guardsmen are on alert and ready to deploy, if needed.

“Our fellow Americans need us,” said Rauner.

“I am ready to send our Guardsmen on a mission to make sure the people of Puerto Rico are safe and healthy as they find a way to rebuild after such a tragic blow. We are one people, united by our love for this country and our willingness to help each other in times of need.”

The Illinois National Guard has already been responding to requests for assistance as they have come in through the appropriate federal channels. To date, the Guard has delivered vital relief material to the U.S Virgin Islands and is in Puerto Rico assisting with strategic communication capabilities.

Rauner says the state is ready to do more. While he has the authority to activate the Illinois National Guard within the state’s borders, he cannot send them to other states or territories without an official request. Rauner sent a letter to Ricardo Rossello, the governor of Puerto Rico, today, letting him know the state of Illinois is eager to help and will mobilize troops immediately, if and when more boots are needed on the ground.

The Rauner administration also reached out to the Federal Emergency Management Association to see how it can be of more assistance on the home front.

Rauner and Lieutenant Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti partnered with State Representative Luis Arroyo and other leaders in the Puerto Rican community last week, including La Casa Puertorriqueña and the Puerto Rican Parade Committee, to film a video asking the people of Illinois to pitch in with recovery efforts. The video is available online at www.Ready.Illinois.gov/hurricanehelp.

Rauner Ready to Help Puerto Rico — 26 Comments

  1. The best thing that pathetic, lying fatcat can do is donate $500,000 to that pre-hurricane 3rd world basketcase of corruption and libtard politics.

Or better yet, he should just move there and run for Governor there!

  2. From what I heard was the Puerto Rico is not doing its part.

People that have been there say that Puerto Rico is using this as a political stunt.

They are not distributing the humanitarian supplies that have been sent.

Puerto Rico is corrupt people and they are willing to throw their citizens under the bus to be bailed out of the miss managing of money and corruption that follows.

Send them humanitarian supplies and they have to figure the rest out.

  3. It’s not the people of Puerto Rico. It’s the communist deep state that is using this as a genocide of the island. They have and it is rotting because the communists are holding everything back.

  4. Why should PR take responsibility for itself when they can just blame Whitey ?

  5. Plenty of help for PR and illegal aliens, but no help for the
besieged taxpayers and the unborn children of Illinois.

What a feckless bastard Rauner is. A Liberal by any other name.

  6. To the massive sunshine blog readership: This is what McHenry county compassionate conservatism looks like…tic, tock, tic, tock

  7. Now they’re officially in front of us in line when Illinois declares bankruptcy!

    Oh well another lost opportunity!

  8. The unborn children of Illinois have priority over the unborn children of Puerto Rico. God should expand His intellect reading this sunshine blog…tic, tock, tic, tock…

  9. What about Houston and Florida?

Where is the money going to come from?

Doesn’t Rauner know that Illinois is broke?

  10. Rauner is one heck of a jerk, that’s for sure.

I believe we have to send food and water to them BUT I sure hope we don’t plan on rebuilding PR.

Have the people relocate and just let it go…………

  11. You are being conned yet again. They have EVERYTHING they need in Puerto Rico. Do NOT Send any more there! The Communists will not disperse any of the aid. Never let a good crises go to waste? They are going to bleed Illinois some more with this Communist plot unfolding now. I see a few of you are catching on in here. But your comments look as though you are selfish by asking what about us. You are on the right track, go deeper. They are causing the situation and using it to steal from you.

Angel you are a bigger fool than you know. You support liars and thieves. The people speaking in here could be your friends and your salvation, but you want enemies becaue you absolutely refuse to hear the truth!

  12. Ah, a steady stream of deluded rants by Calvin’s Oxycodone-Addled Posse. At least we know where McHenry County’s next mass murderer will come from- which anonymous coward in the preceding posts will it be? Taking bets now on when they snap like a fucking rubber band with their AR-15.

I always knew the Trumpistas would be America’s suicide bombers. Last night was the first volley from the Trump Suicide Squad.

Be of good cheer- I wish you all the best; a long, lonely and impoverished life, an excruciatingly slow death from natural causes, and a fitting and useful end, as an unclaimed corpse on a pre-med dissection table.

Enjoy your dinners tonight, and crush up an extra oxycodone tablet for me; you snort, I’ll cheer!

  13. You are a complete fool, John. Have you forgotten 911? You are seeing the end game of the deep state and you make fun of the ones trying to wake you from your incoherent slumber. Join hands with Angel while you sing Kumbaya.

  14. Hillary LOST, Trump WON.

It’s time for you to accept that fact.

Now grow up, get over it, and move on with your life Johnny boy.

  15. I get it now. One of the most defining, fierce and bloody battles of the Cold War is being fought in Puerto Rico at this very moment. Please support the troops of democracy and freedom…whatever that means…tic, tock, tic, tock…

  16. People are saying tronald dump was not born in this country; and if people say it, that must be true. It’s time for you to accept that fact.
Now grow up, get over it, and move on with your life compassionate conservatives…tic, tock, tic, tock…

  17. It’s not a cold war, Angel. It’s a civil war. The deep state Communists are behind it all. Support yourself. That is where your freedoms lie.

  18. I’m ready to enlist; I’ll do anything for my salvation. Tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock…

  19. What a loser Rauner is. This is “Damage Control”…..cloaked in compassion.

    Typical politician.

And, politicians wonder why they are so despised.

  20. The schoolteacher has been the undisputed leader for posting incoherent drivel for months now.

But it seems we have a new contender for blog village idiot in this John Lovaas.

  21. What a joke.

A disreputable governor of the worst State of 50, fiscally, and itself on the brink of bankruptcy, offers to send the Guard to a more worst part of the U.S., Puerto Rico.

Terrible leadership by politicians over many decades in both Puerto Rico and in Crook County/Illinois.

Here is an article regarding bankruptcy and the island.

  22. From an AP article today –

“Even before the storm hit on Sept. 20, Puerto Rico was in dire condition thanks to a decade-long economic recession that had left its infrastructure, including the island’s power lines, in a sorry state.”

Perhaps some from the media (investigative journalists) will investigate and report and do contrasts between a very well run State such as Florida and the very poorly run Puerto Rico.

They could report how excellent government management in Florida can more readily recover after a devastating hurricane compared to inept leadership over the decades in Puerto Rico.

  23. He can’t help Illinois. So were is he going to get the money? Spend your own money
