Reducing Levy 5%, Algonquin Township Road Commissioner Andrew Gasser Urges Other Tax Districts to Reduce Theirs 1%

In the article on his web site, Algonquin Township Road Commissioner Andrew Gasser explains that he is cutting the Road District levy by 5%.

Then he urges other tax districts to cut their levies:

My Challenge to Every Taxing Body in McHenry County

Andrew Gasser

Obviously not every taxing body can cut five (5) percent in one year – but you can cut one (1) percent and not take the rate of inflation increase.

I challenge every taxing body to just cut one percent from their levy.

I realize not everyone can match me and there will be some over achievers but if every body just cut taxes by one (1) percent the impact on our residents would be enormous.

It is not difficult.

You just do it.

Cut your levies.

Save the endangered species that is the Illinois property owner.

They are leaving in droves.

They do not want excuses – they want results.

So give them results and cut your levies.

  1. Congratulations Mr. Gasser.

It is amazing who well the people are served when the deadwood is jettisoned.

  2. Excellent! Great job and lets keep asking our schools to do the same.

Thank you Mr Gasser for your leadership!

    Stay strong!

  3. How about all Road Districts follow the example of Coral and Alden Townships and match what they levy per road mile.

    Oh yeah!

That would require McHenry, Nunda and Algonquin get of rid of their very expensive toys.

  4. Thank you Andrew for doing what’s right, for doing what you promised, for standing up TO the bad guys and standing up FOR the good guys.

  5. Fine leadership, it should be repeated more often, and a story in the NWH, and some of the other papers, media would help.

As far as your proposed budget, it’s not in the normal form with line item numbers like the past budgets have been.

It will have to be in that form before passage, so why not post it so we can all see it before passage?
