Illnois Has Lasted 200 Years. Who Knew?

The Village of Johnsburg brings me news that Illinois is 200 years old on December 3rd a year from now.

I can only wonder how the state lasted this long with Democrats doing their best to live for today, letting the future take care of itself.

The problem is unpaid pension debt.

Even with the Donald Trump stock market surge, Illinois and its municipalities have severe pension payment problems. (Let me say that local municipal pension debt is not for folks in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund, but rather the police and firemen funds.)

But, back to the celebration.

Johnsburg reports

On Monday, December 4th at Noon counties and municipalities throughout the state are hosting Raise the Flag ceremonies to kick off a yearlong celebration for Illinois’ 200th year of statehood.

This yearlong celebration will pay tribute to the people, places, and things that are being BORN, BUILT & GROWN here every single day.

Our Bicentennial is a once-in-a-lifetime invitation to fall in love with Illinois all over again, and it will showcase Illinois’ influence on American history, achievement, culture, innovation, and more.

Together, we can inspire pride in Illinois and show the world what makes this state so great.

Join us at the Johnsburg Village Hall at Noon on December 4th for our flag raising ceremony.

  1. who knew is right.

Doesn’t seem to have what it takes to last much longer tho.

  2. Let’s pay tribute to our sunshine blogger who was there when Illinois became a state. On Monday at noon, please shoot a photo in the face of somebody you do not like. Then go ahead and nab a free lunch from a friend. Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock…

  3. Flag should be raised, then lowered to half mast!

It now belongs to rotten elites and total cultural aliens like llavondo.

  4. When I move to Florida next September, I will burn an Illinois flag.

I had REAL problems selling my house because of the huge property tax burden.

So, I took a loss, an even bigger one then from what I bought the place for in ’06.

But when you guys do take back Illinois from the Llavonas, Millers, Frankses and Althoffs, I hereby apply to run the guillotines, and I will volunteer for the job and take no coffee breaks or vacations until every last one of them is rounded up.

I’ll be ‘heading’ back to Illinois at the right time so to speak!

  5. December 3, 2018 is the 200 year anniversary of Illinois being admitted as a state of the United States.

December 3, 2017 begins the one year countdown to that 200 year anniversary.

  6. RINO?

Then you won’t miss the festivities. (Probably as a Christmas present) we will be seeing every governor of every state and every child protective services agency go down in the pedophile roundup.

  7. The once proud Land of Lincoln has been ruined by the takers, led by Cullerton, Madigan and the Republican turncoats.

    You reap what you sow.

  8. Whisperer, can I be your assistant?

In my ‘old county’ (Hungary), the people awakened to the nature of the human vermin running the show and what they were engorging off the Hungarian people and took strong measures to avenge the wrongs.

  9. Careful now RIno Whisperer, you’ll TRIGGER the DEMOCRAT snowflakes that post here – MAGA !

Dear immense readership of this sunshine blog (estimated in approximately 11 folks): Did you notice how audaciously our sunshine blogger and ringmaster of the McHenry county libertarian cyber-circus turns a celebration story about our state in another hit piece against public employees? Not surprisingly, he fails to apply the same logic to the irresponsible tax scam just passed by the US House of Representatives and US Senate which will add over a trillion dollars to our national deficit. To justify such a disaster on future generations of Americans, republican (lower case intended) leadership argues the tax cuts will pay for themselves as the economy will grow at unprecedented rates. I know, I know, it is all about what they love to call “entitlement reform.” That’s the next stage in the tax scam…Speaking of “living for today…” Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock…
