At the November 27th, 2017 Law & Government Meeting, McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski requested additional funds from the Special Fund to pay for an increasing number of required autopsies.
She reported an increase in “unnatural” deaths in McHenry County

“The Coroner’s Office has been swamped in 2017.
“Our number of unnatural deaths is alarmingly increasing compared to previous years.
“Most notably in drug overdose deaths, suicides, homicides and motor vehicle accidents.
“Thirty-nine suicides and seventy-three drug overdose deaths.
“That gives us 49 more unnatural deaths this year compared to last year.”
“Many unnatural deaths require an autopsy by statute; require a minimum of toxicology testing for a general panel of drugs and alcohol.
“Eighty-six percent of our natural deaths are opioid related, require more extensive panels.
“These panels continue to go up in price.”
She is lazy

Dr. Majewski is working tirelessly with less staff and saving the county in costs in a climate that is growing in deaths and crime in this county.
She is under this growing pressure yet remains meticulous, diplomatic, and very caring.
I know personally know this from a recent death in my family.
She is tied to that phone 24/7 and was available whenever we had a concern or question and that was often!

I don’t know how one could have stated that any better.
