A press release from the Huntley Police Department:
A Ruse Burglary has occurred in area of Woodcreek Drive
On December 26, 2017 at approximately 4:00 PM a male subject went to a residence on the 11600 block of Woodcreek Drive in Huntley.
The subject rang the doorbell, and when the homeowner answered the door he stepped into the home.
The male advised he was a contractor working for the Village of Huntley and needed to inspect the water due to a damaged water main in the area.
When asked for identification, the male subject redirected the conversation.
The male subject walked to the victim’s kitchen faucet and began talking about water issues.
He was on the telephone several times, during the encounter. A
short time later a noise was heard and the subject stated it was his co-worker and left the residence.
The homeowner later discovered jewelry and cash missing.
The male was described as approximately 30 years of age, with a slim build.
He was wearing blue jeans, a dark knit jacket, and a dark skull cap.
He was believed to be driving a dark colored work van with no observed writing on it.
Anyone experiencing a similar incident or having information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Huntley Police Depart at (847) 515-5311 or call our Tip Line at (847) 515-5333.
Residents are reminded that all Village employees are issued identification and will provide the information to our residents if not already prominently displayed, upon request.
Additionally, any Village employee may be verified by calling the Huntley Police Department.
According to my fake president, a story about a fake village worker on this fake blog moderated by our fake blogger must be fake news…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock…
Seems an important descriptor of the perp(s) was omitted from this story.
Can anybody guess what that descriptor might be ?
And as usual, the HPD were too busy with revenue enhancement activities to
be bothered with patrolling their areas.

I find it interesting that an article about a home invasion/robbery where police are seeking information from the public, gives detailed descriptions of the alleged perpetrator except for his race. This simple, yet critical, piece of information is withheld! This is detrimental to public safety.
