Man Arrested for Attempted Murder in McHenry

A press release from the McHenry Police Department:

MCHENRY POLICE ARREST SUBJECT IN CONNECTION WITH JANUARY 2018 SHOOTING INCIDENT

John Birk, Chief of Police of the McHenry Police Department, announced today the arrest of a male subject in connection with a domestic dispute and shooting that occurred in McHenry on January 15th, 2018.

WILLIAM R. CHRISMAN, (age 36, DOB: 07/07/1981) of 5113 W. Home Ave., McHenry, Illinois, was arrested without incident by the McHenry Police Department on February 27th, 2018.

On Monday, January 15th, 2018 at approximately 12:47 A.M., the McHenry Police Department responded to 5113 W. Home Ave. in McHenry for a reported domestic disturbance.

Officers arrived and discovered two subjects inside the residence had suffered gunshot wounds.

Both injured subjects, William R. Chrisman and a 32 year old female, were treated by the McHenry
Township Fire Protection District and transported to Centegra Hospital – McHenry.

Chrisman was subsequently transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL, for treatment of his injuries.

The injured female was treated and released from Centegra the morning of the incident.

Two children (an 11 year old and an 8 year old) were in the residence during this incident, but were not injured.

An investigation determined that Chrisman fired a handgun causing a minor injury to the female victim, arelative, and Chrisman’s injuries were self-inflicted.

From the morning of the incident until being taken into custody, Chrisman was being treated for his injuries at Lutheran General Hospital.

William R. Chrisman was charged with:

  • 1 Count of ATTEMPTED MURDER (Class X Felony),
  • 1 Count of AGGRAVTED DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM (Class 1 Felony),
  • 1 Count of AGGRAVATED DOMESTIC BATTERY (Class 2 Felony), and
  • 1 Count of DOMESTIC BATTERY (Class A Misdemeanor).

Chrisman was processed and transported to the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility to await a bond hearing.

This incident was isolated to this residence and there was no danger to the public

As a frequent reader of this McHenry County sunshine blog, I intuitively know there must be a connection between this story and the Section 8 of the Housing Act of 1937 or with undocumented immigrants.
