Attempted Abduction of 13-Year Old Wonder Lake Girl

A press release from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department:

Attempted Child Abduction

On Saturday, March 3, at about 6:00 p.m., members of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of Hancock Drive and E. Wonder Lake Drive in unincorporated Wonder Lake for a complaint of attempted child abduction.

Upon their arrival, deputies made contact with a 13-year-old female who related that, as she was
walking east on Hancock Drive, a dark-colored pickup truck pulled up beside her.

The driver and only occupant of the truck asked her if she had a lighter and presented her with a pack of cigarettes.

The girl continued to walk and at that time the man exited his truck and attempted to grab her.

She was able to escape his grasp and he drove away eastbound on Hancock Drive.

The man is described as possibly Hispanic, around 30-years-old, with facial hair driving a dark colored pickup truck.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should contact the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office at (815) 338-2144, McHenry County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-762-STOP (7867), or the tip line email address; TipLine@co.mchenry.il.us.

Attempted Abduction of 13-Year Old Wonder Lake Girl — 6 Comments

  1. Watch our kids. They can’t even walk to school or meet with friends outside anymore! I hope the get this SOB and I hope the one from Hebron gets treated like he treated his victim, over and over. Prayers for both girls and their families.

  2. The Sheriff’s Dept is being kept busy on the east side of Wonder Lake.

There seems to be no fear of the law with the low life scum in our midst.

  3. Why isn’t the race of the suspect given?

Don’t the cops think that should be included in the description?
