TUA Exposes Two McHenry Tax Villains
McHENRY COUNTY—Taxpayers United of America today named McHenry County Board members Michele Aavang and Larry Smith “Taxpayer Enemies,” and asked their constituents to make an example of them to send a message to the rest of the tax-raising “2016 All Republican” county board.
For supporting a 4% real hike in last year’s real estate taxes Michele Aavang and Larry Smith showed up on Wanted Posters issued by Taxpayers United of America.
“These two so-called Republicans supported the 4% county property tax increase recently enacted by
the McHenry County Board,” said Jim Tobin, President of Taxpayers United of America (TUA).
“That amount was half of all property tax increases in McHenry County this past spring.”
“After the county property tax increase was rammed through, an attempt was made to abate some of the increase by killing the Valley Hi Nursing Home levy, which would have removed the tax for an enterprise agency that generally breaks even, and has about $40 million in the bank.
“Even this modest tax abatement was voted down by Aavang and Smith, who opted to siphon the nursing home levy to a capital projects fund.”
“The ‘All Republican’ McHenry County Board is no friend of its constituents.
“The removal of Michele Aavang and Larry Smith this March by voters would send a message to the rest of the board that McHenry County taxpayers have had enough.”
Jim Tobin and Taxpayers United know a few things about TAXES!

*Ersel is honest in that the tax decrease was just smoke and mirrors, Only an abatement.
Just Temporary.She’s is a supporter of following the rules and law.
She’s also for transparency.
She’s willing to stand up fight, lead, do what’s right.

*Larry actually admitted the tax cut he touted on his campaign literature was really just temporary abatement.
Says he’s open but never speaks at board mtgs.
He’s probably a nice guy, a decent neighbor but he’s not an effective leader or board member.
Easily led by the nose.
Had to read word for word his closing statement.

Then he goes back on the abatement and tries to sell it as a tax cut.

*Melendi was on the school board in Huntley and says she voted against raising taxes but immediately goes into increasing infrastructure.
Sorry Lesli you can’t increase infrastructure and not raise taxes without cutting programs, budget, spending!

Melendi works for McConnaughay who wrote the bill to give the Couty board chairman more power.
So you can guarantee she’s going to be a shill for him and his spending more and taking more.

Franks has a shill in her current boss and when the bill didn’t pass, they decided to send in her asst to run on the board.
