Both Parties Share Blame for Illinois

An email from Jeanne Ives:

“Dear Friends and Supporters,

Tuesday night, the popular revolt against Illinois’ political ruling class fell just a bit short.

But that doesn’t change the substance of what we accomplished or the righteousness of our effort.

We started this campaign on faith.

And we came closer than most thought we could. Sometimes what should happen doesn’t happen…at least not in our time.

So we end with the same faith with which we started.

Jeanne Ives at a 2018 campaign event in McHenry.

It is with much gratitude and great humility that I thank my running mate Rich Morthland and his family.

I couldn’t have had a better running mate or a more principled conservative with which to wage this battle than Rich.

I want to thank my husband Paul for standing steadfastly behind me throughout this campaign.

Paul, myself, and my entire family are so fortunate to have been able to share this experience together with you.

I also want to thank both my dedicated campaign staff and you – the conservative grassroots who rallied behind me and took this hill with me.

Tuesday’s defeat is nonetheless a victory for the people who play by the rules in Illinois and who’ve been fleeced by a state government they finance.

You made your voices heard. You made your exasperation felt.

And now both parties and both candidates for governor know your concerns and hopes can no longer be ignored.

As I’ve said throughout this campaign and during my time in the General Assembly, both parties share the blame for what Illinois has become.

We don’t have Republican or Democrat problems. We have math problems and government service problems.

I remain convinced that Tuesday remains the beginning of the end of all of that. I remain convinced that Illinois is on the comeback.

And I remain committed to fighting to those ends every day I have left as a member of the Illinois House.

Despite this defeat, I know the overwhelming majority of Illinois families want to change our political culture.

This is the popular revolt long in the making and it will not be quelled by this setback.

This is a movement that has room for everybody because our government belongs equally to every single, law-abiding Illinois resident.

Thank you all so very much for the sacrifices you made for our campaign.

Thank you all so very much for the fight you put in for what’s right, and for what’s right for Illinois.

Onward we fight.

God Bless you, your families, our state and our nation.

Jeanne

P.S. One final comment: We are a polite and conscientious campaign. Please pick up any signs you see in your area and dispose of them properly. If our campaign loaned you stakes, please give them to a conservative candidate or use them to fence in your garden – another useful re-purposing.”

  1. Thank You Jeanne Ives for taking a strong, victorious stand for We The People. You are the true Winner.

  2. We need new leadership of the Republican Party in Illinois for future elections. There is lots of time to prepare for then next big election in our State. That would be for the U.S. Senate in 2020 when Dick Durbin’s current term ends. The Republican Party has had awful candidates for the U.S. Senate the last two elections when Durbin won again and then Duckworth won.

Perhaps Jeanne Ives is the ideal Republican candidate to beat Durbin or whoever the Democrats run if Durbin decides to retire.

  3. Jeanne Ives – integrity personified.
It is a shame and travesty that Illinois is so infested
with terminally and profoundly stupid people who
are incapable of comprehending this most valuable and rare of
personality traits in todays political landscape.

We now are doomed to suffer the consequences of their stupidity.

  4. Good points Abe. One has to wonder how many voters might have voted for Jeanne if not for the slimy and vicious attack ads on her by Rauner. How many voters were swayed to vote for Rauner rather than Jeanne because of Rauner’s ad campaign?

Beyond campaign ads, how many people are swayed, brainwashed by the mostly leftist media to a leftist point of view? How many people voted for the thug Hillary in spite of the overwhelming evidence of her incompetence and gross negligence as was outlined by the D.C.’s top Bureau Director because the leftist media did not cover it adequately or they said her email thuggery was not an issue?

  5. There is no Republican Party in Illinois just one brave lady who stood up for traditional conservative values. Until we get rid of all the quizziling Republican legislator imposters around her, she is urinating up a rope. Where were the voices of Our local state representatives in support of Ives pushing a plan for decrease in state government expenditures and entitlement reform? The problem is we have too many of these elected buffoons looking to make a career out of government preferring to be the minority party.

  6. Just got off the phone with old pal who lives in spectacular house on Geneva Golf Club.

For some reason ( I said what’s the diff in this and every other election laughing) this Primary caused him to snap. What a rant about the Illinois hellhole. He’s selling and going to make his Scottsdale home full time.

There goes my golf and OTB partner, when I have the misfortune of having to be in town! Never thought this ‘lifer’ would ever leave.

  7. Apologies to Susan for continuing to reach back to her statement desiring Illinois’ total failure as an opportunity for change.

This state doesn’t have an ideological problem, it has a corruption problem.

Biss was a phenomenal choice for governor to break the state financially.

JB is a phenomenal choice to continue the tradition of this state being a banana republic with fabulous corruption at the top.

To elect reformers is really just delaying the fall by sacrificing excellent well meaning people for short term relief.

The net outflow of productivity, jobs, net worth, population and GDP is just unsustainable.

It is hard to gauge the final tipping point but nothing would make us giggle more than to watch those robbing the public treasury trying to earn their salt on the merits of their contributions.

The most idiotic person to have ever commented on this blog(beating Duncan McHenry by a country mile) wouldn’t last three months without stealing from the treasury.

The only other possible relief is Federal intervention.

The Federal government is in wild turmoil as it attempts to weed out the traitors there.

We are on our own here folks.

Illinois is truly the bellwether of the nation as how sustainable self interested self aggrandizing self enriching policies may be in a Representative Democracy.

Our Founding Fathers knew their visionary form of government was completely unsustainable in an environment devoid of values, morals and selflessness.

    Illinois will be their proof.

Let us all hope when it falls apart here those who have the ability to pull it back together again have the strength to do so…

  8. If you count all votes cast in the primary for Governor, Ives received 17% of the votes, pretty damn poor. If you look at Dem vs Rep votes for Governor, it was 1,269,238 voting in Dem primary vs 703,137 in Rep primary, pretty damn poor.
Luckily we still have a democracy and the people have spoken.
“Slimy and vicious attack ads”? Ives sent a full book out on Rauner, first class mail.
    Call 1-800-mayflower.

  9. Our hope is on the Ka$h…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock…

  10. Luckily we still have a democracy and the people have spoken. no we have a Republic…

  11. “We are a polite and conscientious campaign. Please pick up any signs you see in your area and dispose of them properly”. Sunshine blogger, this is a direct call to action for you! Jump right in your pick-up truck and grab as many Jeanne Ives’ signs as possible. I can’t wait for the stories about these signs in, let’s say, 2055; you will be 255 years young by then. Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock…

  12. Very well written email. Even though I don’t agree with all of her opinions expressed during her campaign, I definitely am saddened that an above-board, classy candidate is out of the running. We have too many slimy politicians out there.

  13. I love it when compassionate conservatives use the term “classy.” To them, it is very classy to trash minorities and demonize undocumented immigarants, labor unions, and the LGBTQ community. We know them all too well; not fooling anybody here. Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock…

  14. I shall never EVER vote for Puke Rauner.

No, Brucie Baby, the Conservatives will not forget all about your betrayals and lies and come back to you in Nov.

His controlling, vile wife is really something…. something like this:
    http://churchofhalloween.com/medusa/

  15. Anyone hear about the guy who made the ‘anti-joe’ robo call on election day being sued?

    Insofar as not supporting Rauner,
ensure you get out the vote for:
    Weber,
    Skillicorn,
    Wilcox,
    Hultgren,
    Roskam,
    Reick,
    McConchie,
    Helland,
    Harold,
    Senger,
    Dodge,
    McSweeney,
    Ugaste,
and even McConnaughay but remember we need her to get out of Jack Franks’ pocket.

  16. Sunshine blogger, in the spirit of cooperation with the real winner of the republican primary for governor Jeanne Ives, I already picked up 1776 campaign signs. Should I donate them to a shooting range nearby to honor our second amendment rights? Or should I wait until next Halloween to scare the heck out of people on haunted houses all around the state? Please advise. Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meow, meeeoooowwwww…

  17. @dentbla Luckily we still have a democracy and the people have spoken……last I checked America is a Constitutional Republic. Please learn the difference.

  18. Compassionate conservatives looooooove the word “republic.” Any similarity with the word “republican?” Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock…
