Park Districts in Springfield Lobbying Legislators

With the ability to borrow money without asking for voter approval, what more could park districts want.

I don’t know, but here’s evidence there must be something:

The Rockford Park District has a booth in the State Capitol today.

The New Lenox Park District also has a booth.

This exhibit shows a project on which construction could begin immediately if the state provided a subsidy.

  1. Cal, this is hardly what one would call lobbing.

Perhaps an Earth Day celebration/awareness expo.

Most lobbying that I witnessed was much less subtle and less public.

I am sure you know what that stuff looks like. Right?

Just another example of your weak- butt “reporting”/ BS slinging.

  2. Sunshine blogger, keep up the good work at serious and in-depth reporting. You are the gold standard of journalism; and you have the belly to prove it. 196 days. Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meow, meeeeeoooooowwwwwww…

  3. Is there a form of government that doesn’t have a lobbyist organization?

  4. From the Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD):

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to showcase your agency to legislators, legislative staff, government employees and State Capitol visitors.

Demonstrate how park districts, forest preserves, conservation, recreation and special recreation agencies positively impact Illinois’ economy and quality of life.

Exhibits should include literature, giveaways and/or hands-on activities for attendees. Each agency’s space will consist of a 6-foot clothed, skirted table with two chairs.

Space is limited, so register early as agencies will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis.

There is a $85 registration fee to cover equipment rental fees, table skirting and signage.

We encourage you to make an appointment with your legislators, or their staff, to personally show them your exhibit and to thank them for supporting your agency.

  5. It should be illegal to use tax dollars to lobby for more tax dollars.
