No Records of How Bob Miller Redeemed Hundreds of Thousands of American Express Reward Points

Last week I noticed that the American Express Credit Card that former Algonquin Township Road Commissioner Bob Miller used for business purposes had a lot of reward points.

The points went somewhere.

However, in response to a Freedom of Information request, Algonquin Township reports that no records exist of how the reward points were redeemed.

Here’s Algonquin Township’s reply:

  1. So sayeth Algonquin Township Clerk Karen Lukasik,
therefor it must be the truth.

  2. Of course there are records.

Algonquin Township has an American Express account representative that could run a report to show what the points were spent on.

    They just won’t do it!

  3. That there are no documents showing how the points were used, is it possible that the AmEx reward points are still available?

    Just asking.

  4. Mutton?

Possible that SOME remained if/when the account was closed, however in 2006 the balance was > 204,000 and in 2016 the balance was ~8900.

AFAIK the AMEX points never expire on an active account.

    Somebody used them.

  5. Hmmmmmmmmm, Charge No. 578 of the criminal complaint.

There will be an unraveling of all the Miller crimes that will spin out many such evil acts of criminal malfeasance in office … that’s what Miller stood for!

His very name is becoming synonymous with ravenous theft.

    But that’s what government is.

    Townships have no oversight.

They are sinecures ideally made for corruption.

That is why they must go.

  6. @Mutton & Check the Law –

I would bet Gasser could just call American Express and ask.

    Hey Gasbag,

Follow these steps to find out how Miller used points:

    1. Give AMEX customer service a call. AMEX customer service can be reached at: 1 (800) 528-4800
    2. Ask for who the American Express Account Development Rep is for the Highway Department/Township.
    3. Once you get your rep’s name, ask the rep to email an excel spreadsheet of how AMEX Points were used in the last 10 years. Then leak to the blog and everyone can be outraged together!

    Thanks!!

  7. Yeah Rodeo, while Andy’s there, maybe he can check my Amx account and see why I didn’t get double points for my car rental from last month.

    Knucklehead.

  8. Makes me sick how far we have fallen from being a community of parades , baseball, football, soccer parks crowded, friendly hellos from yur nieghbor,we have been divided by this corruption, and widespread unlawful use of tax payers hard earned money,

Now we stand uncivil and angry towards our nieghbor, put the blame in its proper place, stand on the side of right bring this community back together, make arrests, and bring back our confidence in our leaders
