Governor Uses Dixon Shooting to Push for Making It Easier to Pass Countywide School Sales Tax (even though he probably doesn’t know it)

A bit less than a decade ago, school folks came up with the idea to saddle taxpayers with a permanent sales tax along with already burdensome property taxes.

The original pitch was to use the sales tax to pay for capital projects.

However, once a school district tapped into the flow of taxes, taxpayers would be stuck with the tax until the bonds were paid off.

Bruce Rauner

That’s bad enough, but Govenror Bruce Rauner in his recent amendatory veto proposed to make authorizing the countywide sales taxes easier to pass.

Here’s what he proposes:

“I said let’s free up local sales tax revenues so schools have that choice, if they choose to, to have a resource officer, a security trained police officer or person as well if they also want mental health professionals that would be great.”

So, if his proposal passes, school boards would be able to plead for assistance not only

  •  to relieve property taxes, but
  • to save children’s lives.

The Governor is not doing a lot of thinking about unintended consequences of issues designed to enhance his re-election chances.

Surely, he would not want this proposal to be seen as I see it, a way to make imposing a sales tax easier.

But that’s what I think it does.

  1. Rauner is a RINO and as such he never met a tax that he didn’t like,
he’s already proven that to be the truth. And besides …

it’s for the Chillldren so it’s
    good to go by default.

The backstabbing cowardly traitor thinks he is so smart.

  2. Didn’t the governor just approve of 72 hour waiting periods for all gun purchases?
