McHenry Domestic Dispute Results in Arrest

A press release from the McHenry Police Department:

McHENRY POLICE ARREST SUBJECT IN CONNECTION WITH DOMESTIC DISPUTE

John Birk, Chief of Police of the McHenry Police Department, announced today the arrest of a male subject in connection with a domestic dispute that occurred in McHenry on June 9th, 2018.

WILLIAM B. CHEATHAM, (age 56, DOB: 09/11/1962) of 1004 N. Front St., Unit A, McHenry, Illinois, was arrested by the McHenry Police Department on Willilam Cheatham[/captionJune 9th, 2018.

On Saturday, June 9th, 2018 at approximately 8:30 P.M., the McHenry Police Department responded to 1004 N. Front St. in McHenry for a reported domestic disturbance. Officers arrived and it was reported that Cheatham threatened to harm one of the victims by use of a firearm.

Cheatham retreated into his residence and refused to answer for the responding officers.

Through investigation officers learned that Cheatham was a convicted felon and in possession of numerous firearms.

A search warrant for the residence was prepared and obtained.

Due to the report of weapons being in the residence, the McHenry Police Department requested the assistance of the Emergency Services Team of the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (commonly referred to as NIPAS). NIPAS is a joint venture of suburban municipal police agencies to provide mutual aid.

The residence was entered by police personnel and Cheatham was taken into custody without incident.

During the search of the residence, investigators recovered thirteen long guns, two handguns and numerous rounds of ammunition.

In order to ensure the safety of other residents and citizens in the area, Illinois Route 31 (Front Street) was closed to vehicular traffic for approximately four hours. Also, several residences and businesses in the area of the incident were evacuated as a precaution.

William B. Cheatham was charged with:

1 Count of UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF WEAPONS BY A FELON (Class 3 Felony),

1 Count of ASSAULT (Class B Misdemeanor), and

1 Count of DISORDERLY CONDUCT (Class C Misdemeanor).

Cheatham was processed and transported to the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility to await a bond hearing. This incident was isolated to this residence and nobody suffered any injuries.

  1. Does this gentleman have a relative who is a member of the law firm of Dewey, Cheatham & Howe ?

  2. Bill, she couldn’t have him arrested for that, so she used her “Burn the cheatin’ rat’ card and suddenly screamed bloody murder over guns she knew about for ages.
